My biggest problem is who I will vote for. I have read both politcal platforms and I find myself split. I have beliefs both parties support and it seems like what's most important to me, equally are split between both. I find myself leaning more towards one than the other, but I am not prepared to commit my future to just a hunch.
I am sickened by how the parties are mudslinging instead of just using their voices to explain why they are the best candidate. Stop insulting each other and tell us what YOU believe to be right. Why we should vote for you and NOT why we shouldn't vote for your opponent. I'm tired of the insults. I just want facts. When asked questions, politicians answer based on a script that their campaign managers set up. It's a bunch of vague run around answers that don't touch what we are trying to find out. What is your agenda? What are you planning to do about "X"? Having seen this happen night after night on Fox News, CNBC, and other networks focusing strongly on this election, I'm just at a standstill on what my move will be. No one seems to be just giving the hard facts. "I'm going to do this and I feel strongly about it because..." SHOW ME WHY YOU BELONG BEHIND THAT DESK!!!
My husband is very educated and informed on the political front. He votes for one party only and thinks I am uninformed if I see the points of another. But I think that you should look at the facts rather than the party. If a monkey is a Democrat, does that mean the monkey gets your vote? If a sloth is a Republican does that mean the sloth gets your vote? Come on!!! I don't think I'm misguided because I see faults and strengths in both. I want the person in office that will do the best job running this country, the best judge, the best governor, the best senator. I could care less about the Donkey or the Elephant. I just want to see a great group of people doing their jobs that they promised to do. Even if they don't do everything they set out to do, if they attempted it, I'm satisfied. Maybe the next attempt will be successful.
I guess I might be naive. Maybe I am misguided, but I don't think so. I just want the best person for the job to get it. And I suppose it's up to me to read all I can, and listen as much as possible so I can figure out who cares most for my causes.

Welcome lissa91! There's plenty of mudslinging around here, too, but hopefully you'll also find some informative and thoughtful posts around here.
Many hold your conviction about voting for the person and not the party, but there is another side to consider. The balance of power in the house & senate, especially when the numbers are close, is much more important to

There are MANY issues to consider between the two parties...I find confidence in going with the most important one to me...National Defense and the War on Terror. If we lose this war (which will go into many more countries for many more years) all other issues won't matter!
Try not to get "bogged down" with the details. Look at the big picture and try to imagine what kind of country you would want your children to inherit.
I admire your interest in this election as I believe it will prove to be a critical time in our country's history.
Take Care!

Hello Lissa91!
Welcome to the board!
Miffy - Co-CL For The Politics Today Board
As a pregnant woman and mother of one child in school, I want what's best for my kids. I want to see them grow in good schools with teachers that care and teachers that get paid what they deserve for their jobs well done. I want to see my children succeed in the world and to be able to go to college and do better than I did. I know voting insures that one day this will happen.
I hope I make the right decision.
