So, what did everybody think? This debate was my first (missed last yr's) and I enjoyed it. I liked how they were both respectful to each other and professional. No sighing, making facial expressions, slouching etc. I can't wait for the vp debates. :) XOXO.

I wish I had booze in the house. lol It was...interesting. Bush didn't fail to make me giggle...Kerry made some very good points that I'm glad SOMEONE said.

We're watching The Daily Show Post Debate show....thank the gods for some irreverent humor that takes the sting out of the night.

I look forward to the other debates...Bring it on. Tee hee.

Some things that stood out for me...and I could be paraphrasing, for that I apologize because my brain is tired.

1. "I will hunt them......down and kill them."

2. "I have never wavered in my entire life." (He flat out lied but I got a good laugh.)

3. Something about seeking a 'global test' regarding national security. (SCARY!)

Basically, he has not specifically said how he'll be a better president. He denigrated our 30 allies by dismissing their contributions to the war. Brought up his service in Viet Nam (I didn't know Kerry fought in Viet Nam...) as a reason that he'd make a better president.

Instead of offering specifics on the issue of resolving the Iraq war and other national security issues he referred viewers to his website. Sorry, that doesn't cut it with me. If he had something of substance to say, he should have said it already instead of redirecting us to his website.

BTW, how the heck is he going to fund everything he has proposed to do besides taxing the population to death?

Oh, well. Hopefully there are more responses on this thread.

I can't wait for the Daily show (just love Jon) and Tough Crowd. :) "Hardball" was pretty good too and I'm taping the rest of their special and will watch it later.

Ron Reagan Jr. and even Joe Scarborough thought Kerry won.

Hey there Liberalmom! I'm watching the Daily Show post debate show also.....Comedy Central's the only network I really trust! :-) Good debate, I watched live threads online from both camps and both think they won.....which is what I expected! I watched C-SPAN's coverage, because they had a split screen, so you could watch BOTH, see the other's reaction while one was speaking. I saw on one blog someone said Bush was blinking out "S.O.S." in Morse code......I thought they both did okay, though I heard nothing new from either, really......

As usual, on style I was a bit disappointed in the president's lackluster speaking ability-he seemed hesitant, even confused at times, and kind of repetitive. But the substance of the debate just cements for me why I would never vote for Kerry-he still can't seem to come up with a firm policy on Iraq, he runs on the idea of garnering the support of allies while dissing the 30 odd allies who DID support us-(guess France and Germany are all we really need!) He keeps saying he has this "plan" for Iraq but aside from the tired old refrain of "bringing in our allies" it's still completely fuzzy to me, he obviously fails to understand that the way to keep nuclear proliferation under control is not to DISARM OURSELVES-wow, felt like I was back in the eighties with the no nukes folks there for a second, God Bless Ronald Reagan or we might all be toast by now. I think Bush's best score was in pointing out that John Kerry cannot possibly hope to gain global support for our efforts in Iraq while he is constantly referring to it as the "wrong war, wrong place, wrong time" or the "grand diversion". I think Kerry was the smoother politician, kept his composure a little better, I will even go so far as to say I felt he showed a better command of details. But the man has no convictions, no core beliefs, and it showed.

I'm looking forward to the domestic policy debate, I think Kerry is assumed to have the advantage but I can't wait to hear how he criticizes the president for deficits in one breath and then proposes new massive government entitlement programs in another. Should be interesting.

I'm waiting for my husband to come home. He's teaching tonight & I had to video tape the debate for him. Kerry was lacking in substance once again & flat out wrong in many areas IMO, but he did present himself very well. Bush appeared weary & pissed at Kerry. I'm still for Bush and I still agree with him, but visually Kerry did well. I think my husband is going to be irrate every time Kerry talks. Maybe I should have supplied him with rubber bricks for him to throw at the TV for him to vent with. ;-) The margin has narrowed (unfortunately) I think.

I also liked the CSPAN one cause you could see their reactions. Bush did blink a lot. Heh heh. *Shrug* They also added another thirty minute's but it didn't look like anything. Anybody know why they did that? I haven't seen the daily show yet (I too love it and definietly trust Mr. Stewart and love his comedic view too), but will watch it later (the repeat) and can't wait for it. :) XOXO.

They added an extra 30 minutes? I didn't discover the split screen on C-SPAN until about 15 minutes into the debate, so I guess I missed the extra coverage. As I said, I think they both did as it was expected they'd do, of course I'm going to think Kerry did better, because my vote is already decided. Hopefully some undecided voters heard some useful info, from both candidates, though I heard nothing new myself. LOVE the Daily Show, and their title for the debate: "The Squabble in Coral Gables"!!!! Any idea when the VP debates are?
