So, what did everybody think? This debate was my first (missed last yr's) and I enjoyed it. I liked how they were both respectful to each other and professional. No sighing, making facial expressions, slouching etc. I can't wait for the vp debates. :) XOXO.

<<"I am asking where those troops will come from to even go into areas we should go into like the Sudan when our troops are already thin.">>.....Bush said he prefers to work with the African alliance, when it comes to troops in Sudan. He compared it to his stance in the situation of Liberia if you remember.

Canada, and a good number of other countries, including all the Arab nations that supported the coalition of 1990, refused to go after Saddam or declare war on Iraq. It was never a question of Saddam being a "bad person". He was not the first, nor will he be the last of "bad people" this world will encounter. It was just that Saddam was not responsible for 911 and therefore there was no reason to go into Iraq.
The US, under the last 40 years, has supported a good number of bad people and their governments. The list of dictators and juntas supported by the US is long. You are well aware of this. Saddam was at one time an ally of the US. He received money and military help from various administrations. He was not a nice person even under those times. But the US chose to ignore his "unniceness" while he could be exploited.
The new war against Iraq had nothing to do with 911, or would you declare otherwise?
Again I state, you confuse the issue. My disdain is to this so called "coalition". Can you differentiate between a disdain for a political policy and what you claim is a disdain for the hapless soldiers called upon to enforce a mindless policy? To postulate that I ridicule the troops is to put words into my mouth that I have not said. I feel sorry for the people who have offered their lives in this struggle, both the soldiers of the coalition and the people of Iraq. I hold no sympathy for the rulers of these same countries who put these people's lives at risk.
The world was able to watch from the sidelines, as leading up to the current war, the US tried to buy Turkey's cooperation for airfields, troops and support. Billions of dollars were offered to Turkey and only a revolt of its people put a stop to Turkey's leaders making the deal. As this "coalition" has amassed itself to fight against Saddam, are you sure that similar forces of coercion have not bought other political leaders?
Our biases are clear. I hate the military policies of the US. I have for decades. You back the policies of the current administration, sometimes completely without question. I read all your posts and recognize the intellect behind your words. I marvel at your acceptance of such policies.
"what figment of imagination????" WMD! Need I say more?
