So, what did everybody think? This debate was my first (missed last yr's) and I enjoyed it. I liked how they were both respectful to each other and professional. No sighing, making facial expressions, slouching etc. I can't wait for the vp debates. :) XOXO.

>>Whose says that a CANADIAN has any say in AMERICAN politics anyway? The Canadians have been against the war since the beginning and nothing has changed since.<<

Back up the bus there, blondie.

If you disagree with what someone has to say on this board who happens to be Canadian, that’s one thing.

To insinuate that BECAUSE they are Canadian they don’t belong in this discussion is repulsive and disgusting behavior.

Canadian ships are patrolling the Persian Gulf right now as part of NATO.

Canada has soldiers this very minute in Afghanistan, fighting against terrorists, and trying to prepare the country for elections.

In April 2002 US pilots killed four of them in a ‘friendly fire’ bombing.

Eight others were injured.

On 911 Canada helped the US immediately clear its airspace by landing hundreds of planes in Canadian airports, planes that for all that was known at the time could have contained explosives or God knows what else.

Because Canada did not join Bush when he chose to invade Iraq does not give you or anyone else the right to spit on the contributions and lives Canada has given and continues to give in the fight against terrorists.

<<"No one is putting down the countries who are helping. What we are saying is these countries & the "coalition" is weaker than usual. We are taking on 90% of the burden.">> ....YES some are each and everytime they say "the US is going it alone" (that will include Kerry!), but

Didn't see your post, Miffy, when I posted this. Yes, the list is vast. We won't be seeing France or Germany on that list. Kerry can smooze them all he wants, they say they won't send troops even if Kerry is elected.

You've gotta keep the economy going, even when you're fighting a war.

Like we didn't do most of the heavy lifting during the Gulf War, too.

No need for you to; Kerry has made a habit of it.

I said nothing about Canadian military personnel. I was speaking about the general attitude of the Canadian people towards American politics and the war in Iraq. Everyone has a right to their opinion and a right to voice it. What I meant was that they don't get a VOTE. I would never belittle someone from ANY country who was willing to risk their life for another's.

What is "repulsive and disgusting behavior" is misinterpreting someone's comments and then completely disregarding the rest of what was said. To refresh your memory, what I concluded with was, "The efforts of ONE SINGLE PERSON who is willing to risk their life for the freedom of another should be respected and admired."

And i love the fact that Kerry went on and on about building better relationships with our Allies and yet he wants to cut China and everyone else out of the talks with North Korea -- he contradicts himself every time he opens his mouth.

You are so right! Just another example of how he can't make up his mind about things. At the end of the day I would rather have a super-power like China on our side than France.
