Debate tonight

So, what did everybody think? This debate was my first (missed last yr's) and I enjoyed it. I liked how they were both respectful to each other and professional. No sighing, making facial expressions, slouching etc. I can't wait for the vp debates. :) XOXO.

Great article! Seems the president is the only one who had to answer any of the tough questions last night. I hadn't really noticed that but in retrospect it's really quite startling.

I would also have liked to hear Kerry answer the question,"Knowing everything you know now, would you still have voted the same way?" With Diane Sawyer a couple of days ago he said no, a couple fo weeks ago he said yes, last night the question was never asked of him so I'm curious what the answer is now.

It isn't easy finding someone who would be even-handed & ask hard questions of both. I tend to like Tim Russert. He mostly tries to ask difficult questions of everyone & not throw softballs. I honestly thought Mr. Lehrer would have done better. Maybe more than one person asking questions would be best. I'm hoping the debates get more lively. Maybe the next one, 8 Oct., with the Town Hall. I wonder who's doing the Oct. 13th one and the VP debate Oct. 5th ?

Isn't it being an "isolationist" by having bilateral talks with North Korea instead of involving all the nations? See, you are playing both sides of the fence. Bush is trying to keep everyone involved with North Korea by specifically not having bilateral talks -- he knows how important China is as an Allie.

There is a difference between supporting the troops & supporting the war. I support the troops. I object to Bush cutting benefits for veterans.

I do not support the war in Iraq because Iraq did not attack us.

I did support the war in Afghanistan because AlQueda was hiding there with the assistance of the Taliban. Too bad we didn't finish the job & get Bin Laden. Too bad Bush ran off like a kid with ADD & attacked Iraq, drawing resources & attention away from Bin Laden.

As for freedom for the Iraqi people, nice idea, but now about 13 thousand of them are dead & will never be free.

What about all the other countries around the world that need freedom? Will we be bringing freedom to all of them? In what order? Alphabetically or according to how much oil they have?

Hmmm, Tim Russert could be a good choice, I don't mind him too much! I don't really know who chooses the moderators, or what the criteria is? More than one moderator would be interesting too. I'll have to read over the transcript because even though I watched, I was in and out-----I'm on the West Coast, so it started at 6pm and I was still running around finishing dinner and getting the kids bathed! I think the Town Hall one will absolutely be more lively!

<< I'm curious what the answer is now >> Me, too! It's hard to keep up with the constant shift in positions on anything.

I'm amazed the way you are quick to defend the Bush coalition in Iraq but don't seem inclined to defend the countries that are in Afghanistan as part of NATO.

I have 3 great-uncles buried in The Netherlands.

They died liberating your country from Hitler.

Don't lecture me about valuing sacrifices.
