Company Advising Bush Says He Is Lying To Win The Election

We already knew that the Administration was getting daily reports on the situation in Iraq from Kroll, Inc., and, thanks to the Washington Post, we knew that the President had shot that particular messenger when the reports continued to belie his ridiculous happy-talk.

But now, thanks to the News Tracker over at the Senate Democratic Leadership homepage, I find out that Kroll has been issuing independent weekly reports that are still available on its website.

Their latest report, dated yesterday, September 30, says what we all know, that the emperor has no clothes:

Doubts continued to grow this week over whether elections can take place in January as planned against the current backdrop of relentless violence...It is likely that the current U.S. firmness is tied to the November presidential elections, and that its stance could change after the U.S. vote, if George Bush is re-elected. A revised and perhaps more realistic timetable could then be adopted...

You read that last part right. Kroll is telling its clients worldwide that one of its clients, Bush, is misleading the world about the prospects for holding an Iraqi election in January, and is doing it to win the U.S. election in November. Kroll won't keep its business around the world if it doesn't call these shots straight. So while they didn't out and out call their client, the President of the U.S., an out-of-touch liar willing to do anything to be re-elected, they came damn close.

As far as I can see, the media know nothing of these reports. They don't know (or aren't reporting) that the President's own advisers think he's going to postpone the Iraq election as soon as he secures a second term. I'll do what I can to get the word out. Can you Kos'ers help?

BTW, this is no new development - Kroll's been warning that the election timetable is unrealistic for weeks:

Your headline is misleading and amounts to. . . a lie! A statement that "doubts increase" is definitely not the same as saying the President is lying! Iraq has planned elections. Iraq, the US, and their allies are doing everything possible to ensure that elections occur as planned. Kerry's stance - which gives hope to the terrorists that if they escalate violence and foster chaos for a mere three more months they will prevail -certainly must increase doubts in the Iraqi people and our troops (and I am sure in voters here) - BUT it is scarcely appropriate for Kerry and his supporters to seek to benefit politically from the very doubts he creates! Nothing in life is 100% certain, but the only way elections will occur is if we set a goal and work steadily toward that goal. I am glad Kerry wasn't influential in America in the 1770's or prime minister of Britain in the 1940's - imagine what today's world would be like if Kerry or someone like him had been in charge! Do you really think our nation would have been created if George Washington had gone around wringing his hands, telling his troops and anyone else who would listen that he doubted the Revolution would succeed. . .if he had changed his mind every week about whether the Revolution was really necessary/whether military force was appropriate. . .if he had declared the Revolution couldn't begin until the French and Germans approved?

Well, a friend of mine is a Bush fan, she had always ben a Democrat, but since Bush wants to do something about Junk Lawsuits against Dr.s she is for Bush, Her hubby is a Dr.Seems everybody has THEIR own reason for liking Bush. She said "The Iraqi people love the soldiers, the children like the candy they give them, well, you have to have read what happened to the poor Iraqi children when they went to get the CANDY! That was tragic!

Furthermore, even if they hold elections, what is that going to prove? There will still be continued fighting, killing maming. The radical Muslems will not relent, untill you kill all of them, they are like carpenter ants, as long as you have the queen and the workers, they will continue to "breed" more followers. We only have Saddam,(Queen) or king as far as him, but there are many more who they will follow. Do you honestly think we will ever be rid of the radicals? Kerry was right in saying it was the Wrong war,Wrong place Wrong time! We shoud have finished off Osama Bin Laden, first, maybe that would have sent a message. But NO, Bush decided to go after Saddam, redirecting all the energies in getting him. Then we did, fine, then the prison abuses came out, you don't think Rumsfeld has something to do with that?? Who ordered that? I knew as soon as that came out, I KNEW some horrible retaliations would occur. And they did! Many have lost loved ones because Bush acted before it became the last resort.

Plus, the economy sux. People are paying more for things than their paychecks are going up. Sure, some people are doing well, of course they want Bush to stay in, the hell with all the rest. The middle class suffer, pay the tab for all the wealthy. Jobs are lost to overseas. Bush has mad a complete mess of things.

I am not as discouraged about the future as you seem to be. I believe the world can be a better place - but only if we act to make it so. Life involves risks. 9/11 proved that the oceans will not protect us from unprovoked attack. For decades, we have hoped the Middle East would resolve itself, but it hasn't and the violence has now spread to our shores. No decision is ever perfect & hindsight is always 20/20. However, I do believe that the President and Senator Kerry acted in good faith when they chose to intervene with our military - and now that the decision has been made we cannot abandon the Iraqi people. It bothers me that Sen. Kerry and the Democrats are so willing to criticize but so unable to offer constructive suggestions. I truly believe that no matter what the President did, Sen. Kerry would react negatively. If he sent more troops, Kerry would say he was escalating the war; if he doesn't send more troops, Kerry will say he isn't sending enough; if he takes action based on intelligence reports and nothing happens, Kerry will say he over-reacted; if he doesn't take action based on intelligence reports and something happens, Kerry will say he failed to protect us. I don't think this kind of "gotcha" is good for our country. I wish more politicians actually did what was best for our country instead of what was best for their career - I think Joe Liberman has tried to do that, but I do not believe that Senator Kerry has.
