DRUDGE Report today shows video of Sen. Kerry cheating during debate. Despite agreement by both participants that notes could not be used during the debate - Kerry apparently brought notecards to the podium. LOOKS LIKE THE SMOOTH TALKING SENATOR CHEATED!

>>I may be wrong, but I do not believe that China had nuclear capabilites back during the late 60's or early 70's.<<

They did.

>>With the economy, I agree, but Carter refused to use the one tool a President has to try to stimulate the economy, and that is a tax cut or tax credit. Reagan used it, and it worked, GW Bush used it and it worked as well.<<

And good for Carter. Thanks to Reagan and Bush Jr, we now pay about 150 billion a year on interest alone. I don't think that is right. At one time Republicans were conservative on the budget (hello, Warren Rudman) but now that means cutting taxes. If every president cuts taxes, we won't have any revenue. Anyway, this last tax cut was wrong, and doubt that it had the impact you think it did.

>>Solar energy was too expensive back in the 1970's and the environmentalists were not at all happy with solar energy as the creation of the solar panels created toxins that were more than 4 times as severe as coal, or any other fossil fuel.<<

My sister's home had active and passive solar energy, and mine was passive... removing the tax credits was stupid... more homes would have been built this way.

And also, if we have all these tax cuts how will the government be able to fund things and how else are we supposed to pay off this huge debt we're in from war? I guess we'll leave that for the next generation?

He should be more versed on the issues, he has taken every side imaginable on just about every issue out there.

I think Gore lost the debates more than Bush won them.

Bush did win, but by default.

I, and most people, including the media, never have considered George Bush a great debator.

Lets just say I can think on my feet and react with the best of them, which is something that Bush doesnt seem to be able to do, at least not in a debate format.

Well the long and short of it is that I really dont. I would be considered a boring target for a politician to try to attempt a character assasination on.

I did goof off quite a bit when I was younger, and almost got booted out of college, but those days are long behind me, and I have lived a pretty decent life since then.

I was not eligible for the armed services due to health problems when I was younger, even though I tried to go to the Air Force Academy from High School.

There is one major difference between my past and the past of many of the politicians, in that I have openly admitted to my wrongdoings and will openly discuss them.

I have had people try to look into my past before to try to get dirt on me, and they have come up empty, largely because I will talk about where I erred as a young man finding my way in life, and how I have learned from my experiences.

Interesting read. Thanks for the link.

It does not explain, however, why George Tenet kept saying over and over again that he believed the intelligence estimates of the CIA and the other international agencies.

-- They did.

You are correct. Their program was in its infancy back then, as they began testing in the early and mid 1960's. They did not have delivery capabilities for several years thereafter however. What good is a nuclear device if you cannot deliver it to the intended target.

-- And good for Carter.

First, the tax cuts have had a very large impact on the stimulation of the economy, and most economists involved in following the economic patterns of the US economy have agreed that the tax cut was not only well timed, but exactly what the economy needed to get it going again.

Second, while I agree with the tax cuts, I severely disagree with the extreme waste in Washington, as Repunblicans historically did stand for fiscal responsibility, and the only way to get the budgetary worries under control is to cut spending in Washington, especially on pork projects.

I dont think that would still be an issue as the more solar panels that were created, the more the environmentalists raised a fuss about the toxins. It is extremely expensive to produce these panels, and also extremely hazardous to the environment. The reason I know this is because I looked into adding solar panels to my house back in the late 1980's and was told that it would be extremely expensive project due to the fact that not many plants were producing them largely due to the carcinogenic effect of the process to make the actual panels. I guess NASA and the government still use them mainly for their satelite projects and for the space program, but you dont see them as much for commercial purposes.
