Kerry Likely Cheated In Debate
| Sun, 10-03-2004 - 4:20pm |
DRUDGE Report today shows video of Sen. Kerry cheating during debate. Despite agreement by both participants that notes could not be used during the debate - Kerry apparently brought notecards to the podium. LOOKS LIKE THE SMOOTH TALKING SENATOR CHEATED!

I agree. I can't think of how inefficient that must be.
Now I'm if I sat here and pondered awhile I could come up with some sort of case to link all of these to you in some way. Then if ever invited to such a debate you could come with your own pre-prepared spin.
Bob Woodward
Bush at War
I've seen Bush do much better in other debates and off the cuff speeches. Not to say I've ever seen him give a stunning public speakig performance, but this one was certainly not representative of what he's capable of IMO. I suppose everyone can have a bad night, for whatever reason. I do think the questions that were asked and the way they were posed put him on the defensive, and I do think he was probably advised not to "attack" Kerry, so those two things probably contributed to how poorly he did IMO. Of course I know some will say he's just an idiot and I'm making excuses, I might think that myself had I not seen him do better previously.
Bush looking confused, irritated, impatient, & stumbling over his words indicates to me a lack of confidence in himself & his policies>
I still get nervous if I have to speak publicly, even if I know the issue cold. Things will go right out of my head and I'll sit down thinking, "Why didn't I say this or this or this?" immediately after I'm done speaking. I don't think it necessarily indicates a lack of confidence in one's positions, I feel quite confident writing about mine.
They are.
< realize that they are the "voice from the left" on that show but am not aware of them taking part in any high level policy making decisions or meetings within the Democratic Party - particularly if/when that party then becomes the government.>
They are the ones who took over after the swiftboat ads damaged Kerry's crdibility so badly. The attacks on Bush from Kerry and Edwards have intensified since they have been involved, so I suspect they have a lot to do with Kerry's switch from "knowing everything I know, I still would have voted the same way" to "wrong, war, wrong place, wrong time". That sounds like vintage Carville to me. Whether they would have a place in Kerry's cabinet, well I hope we will never know, lol! In any case, my point is just that Rove is an advisor to President Bush, he's not pulling the strings or making the decisions as many suggest, Woodward's book while certainly not full of praise for Bush makes clear that he is the one with the final say in things. Therefore, when I place my vote I will not consider Rove part of my decision, I will trust that Rove's work is at Bush's behest, not the other way around.
I have seen Bush much more comfortable with the issues than in last Thursday's debate, but I admit he does not usually explain himself very well, he's not a very good off the cuff speaker, and I don't think he has a good grasp of minutiae like Cheney does. But from the background information I have read I believe he is the one calling the shots. He is, and always has been from what I've seen and heard, a "big picture" kind of guy. Honestly I would prefer if he was more detail oriented, but the important thing to me is that his beliefs are much more in line with my own than Kerry's are.
If so it didn't work apparently!
