DRUDGE Report today shows video of Sen. Kerry cheating during debate. Despite agreement by both participants that notes could not be used during the debate - Kerry apparently brought notecards to the podium. LOOKS LIKE THE SMOOTH TALKING SENATOR CHEATED!

On the issue of gay marriage, though I disagree with the president, he had a reason for changing his original position, which was that the decision ought to be left to the states. Turned out some judges believed the decision ought to be left to them, not to state legislatures. I don't doubt the proposal was aimed to some extent at the religious right, but it was also aimed at warning judges off of legislating from the bench. In any case, it was a purely political statement because it appears not to have a snowball's chance of passing, and I don't think it did the president much good. Though I don't think Kerry's hypocritical stance on the issue is doing him much good either.
Amen to that! I can't wait til it's over, frankly. Living in Pennsylvania (a major battleground state) I am just inundated with all of it. I've always been very interested in politics but this is even starting to turn me off to it.

I think all presidents have their strengths and weaknesses. This is obviously not one of Bush's strengths. It's up to the individual voter, I guess, to decide what qualities are most and least important to them. Personally I don't like the fact that he's not a great communicator. Clinton was a great communicator, but IMO a very weak and selfish person. So which is more important?
Fact of the matter is, most of America was both for and against the viet nam war, much as they are with the "war on terror" now. but we all must be liars
