DRUDGE Report today shows video of Sen. Kerry cheating during debate. Despite agreement by both participants that notes could not be used during the debate - Kerry apparently brought notecards to the podium. LOOKS LIKE THE SMOOTH TALKING SENATOR CHEATED!

I agree with you. It probably won't happen. Cheney has a temper that is well known but he's also a professional and pretty smart. That said, if it does happen, it probably would be the only thing that could hurt the Bush campaign resulting from this debate.

I'm personally not that impressed with Edwards. I think he's a pretty boy without much experience and it's more possible that Cheney would make him look bad. I'm looking forward to the debate because I don't know all that much about Edwards (at least whether or not he has any depth or substance). I'm also looking forward to it because I can't think of two more different men to be debating each other. I think this one could be rather exciting to watch.

Kerry has no plans for Iraq. That 4 point gibberish could have written by a 10 year old. You can't form alliances with enemies and France and Germany are definitely enemies. They were selling arms to Saddam while others in the UN were sending money intended for food for the Iraqi people into their own swiss bank accounts. Other funds were used By Saddam to furnish liquor to his Republican Guard. There is no time table for bring troops home. Anyone who has fought in a war knows this. Kerry spent 4 months in Viet Nam. His tour was for a year, where was he the rest of the time? He was back home protesting against his fellow men. He was also in Paris with the North Vietnamese. He is a traitor to all who fought courageously. Bob Dole and John McCain have both expressed these views.

Quite frankly, given the current administration's policies... a 10 year old's plan would be preferable.

Well the main reason why we did not have ground assets in the region to verify anything is due to the handcuffs put on the CIA during the Clinton adiministrition, largely thanks to John Deutch who said that the CIA could rely more on electronic surveilance and the need for human intelligence assets could be significantly reduced.

On top of that, put the Torricelli principal into effect which said the CIA could no longer pay "undesireable" informants for information. I dont know where Torricelli thought the CIA was getting these informants from, but even the DEA will say that sometimes you have to cut a deal with a low level drug dealer to catch the higher ups. It isnt the best way to do things, but sometimes it is the ONLY way.

When W learns to write, maybe he'll be able to take notes too!

The last time anyone listened to a Bush, they were lost for 40 years!   Looks like we're doomed to "wander" ano

Carter was better in what areas?

We had one of the worst recessions and energy crisis under Carter in the history of the US.

We had American hostages sitting in the US embassy in Iran for well over a year.

I dont see how it was better under Carter.

Lets see...LBJ....He took the Vietnam War, and made it into a total quagmire by not listening to the advice from his military commanders in the field or those in Washington, thereby lengthining the war, and ultimately causing the US forces to withdraw without having completed their objective.

Nixon....I never brought that administration up, as if it were not for Watergate, it would have gone down as a great 8 years.

Ah yes, it is Clinton's fault... all of it. And Dick Cheney never was for cuts in defence, right? (see first Bush administration.) The move to electronic surveillance has been ongoing for 20 plus years.

Another reason for the bad intelligence was the decision by the administration to cut out the CIA's role in evaluating the intelligence before it made it to the president's desk. The State Department undersecretaries were given raw intelligence and from there it was given directly to the president without proper verifications of authenticity. This administration has harmed the intelligence community immensely.
