At last, a debate with something to sink ones teeth into. The Edwards-Cheney debate actually got beyond the stiff, postured talking points. These two actually talked about the issues. (And it's about time!)

Why can't the debate moderators arrange a similar set-up for Bush-Kerry the next time around? Edwards and Cheney did more than just talk AT each other, they engaged in debate. I'm not saying they answered all the questions but it was a hellavu lot more interesting than the presidential debate.

I loved it too!!! It was so much more in depth about the issues then the Kerry and Bush debate. All that was done on the Kerry/Bush one was Bush using reused phrases, but with this one you actually got to stuff. :D

I'm hoping Friday's Town Hall Presidential Debate will be a vast improvement over the 1st one. Bush needs to do better in his presentation. Kerry was well...Kerry. Style., but looking beyond that there was nothing new. He was consistant. Same ol' lies & flip-flopping. The VP debate was great. More what the 1st Presidential debate should have been. Cheney got Edwards flustered it seemed to me towards the later part. Why didn't Gwen Ifell say something to Edwards when he broke the rules twice & interrupted with a response to Cheney's statements? In reference to Halliburton, Cheney misspoke & recommended people go to Factcheck.com (Soro's site) rather than Factcheck.org.

The town hall style of debate suits Bush more as he can relate to a person on a one on one level, which he usually is very good at.

Kerry is just a better public speaker, plain and simple.

If Bush could speak like Cheney, this race would be over already.

How can one TELL if he's better at a town hall style debate? He's good at answering one on one questions at his events, where everyone there is a supporter of his? Kinda easy to take questions when everyone there AGREES with you, and there are no dissenters! I think thats why he has so few press conferences, they're too unscripted......one of those of his that I saw had me cringing in embarrassment...

But of course, I don't really know how Kerry will do in that environment either, so it should make Friday interesting....

Well I look at the three debates against Gore.

Gore won the two debates in 2000 which were in the format of the first debate last Thursday based on his knowledge of the facts and ability to present them, but I felt that Bush did a much better job in the Town Hall style debate.

That is how I am basing my opinion. Bush is generall considered more likeable and warmer than Kerry, which should be able to help him in that one on one type of situtation.

Fair enough. So GWB has had a Town Hall style debate before??? I don't remember much about the 2000 debates (I had a one and a three year old at the time---kinda busy!)

Nah. Nothing new to me. I've been following Kerry around though since earlier this year. But he at least answered the question's. Bush said "I know it's hard work" at least a dozen times.
