Do Americans really want a "pretty boy" with no substantive experience in foreign affiars who can't even be bothered to show up for intelligence committee meetings to be one heartbeat away from the presidency?

Two things struck me while watching the debate. The first thing is that Cheney won IMO. The second is that while watching Cheney I had the distinct impression that I was watching the REAL president of the United States.

<>

I truely think that's what you have with Bush as president.

Cheney said:

....and that is of course true. The choice of VP should be someone who's skills and experience complete the package. In Bush's case, what he needed in a VP was brains. In Kerry's choice, the need was for charisma and charm. The sad fact about American soicety and politics is that the public penalizes you if you don't have charisma and charm regardless of how substantial you are. In some ways, as a society, you reap what you sow. Right now I agree. I don't think Edwards is currenty presidential material. He has no real experience. There's no doubt that he is intelligent and charming and it is possible that in the future (10 years or so) Edwards could be a real possibility but not now. There have been a lot of VPs that IMO were poor choices. The worst one was Bush senior's choice of Dan Quayle....ick!

To continue along this theme, Cheney said:

<

And I think from the perspective of the nation, it's worked in our relationship, in this administration. I think it's worked in part because I made it clear that I don't have any further political aspirations myself. And I think that's been an advantage.>>

I think it's important, Kerry and Bush supporters alike to really take a long hard look at this guy. Of course he has no "further political aspirations" He is ipso facto, the president of the United States (without having to directly face the heat...how sweet is that?).

Continuing on:

<>

You can say that again.

I can think of many words to describe President Bush, but "pretty" is definitely not among them!

I dunno. I seem to remember quite a few months back a thread on this board had many women saying that Bush was hot...especially in his fight suit....and also his pictures when he was a younger man.

Yes....if one wanted to make a caricature or political cartoon that deliberately exagerates certain features, you could make a nice rendition of a chimp....However, you could take an attractive person (Julia Roberts for example) and make a caracature of her that would be very unattractive. With that huge mouth, you could get something that quite resembles a horse. Edwards, I could do one where he looked like a baby-faced chipmunk.

If you look at the criteria for attractiveness, Bush has a lot going for him. Symmetrical and regular sized features, good skin, a good head of hair, a fit body that is neither to fat or too slim, eyes that crinkle up attractively with laugh lines, a self-confident walk etc...

Please don't insult the chimps by comparing them to W!

Anyone but Bush!

The last time anyone listened to a Bush, they were lost for 40 years!
