What were your impressions of Gwen Ifill

I personally feel that Gwen Ifill did an excellent job as the moderator, and asked tough questions of both candidates, and made sure that the candidates answered them.

I personally feel that she was refreshing to watch compared to Jim Lehrer, and she should replace Lehrer in any future Presidential debates.

Any thoughts?

I liked her even though she did mess up the order twice.

Thought she did a good job. I felt a little frustrated, on her behalf, that her questions were at times avoided/ignored. Instead both men chose to talk about other points.

All in all it was an even match, IMO,

My impression is that she's a bright lady. I think she was nervous but on the whole, I think she tried to keep things relatively even. Some of her questions were rather interesting and a little unexpected.

I was wondering, coming from PBS as she does (isn't that supposed to be considered somewhat elitist and left wing?) if people would come out and try to say that her questions were biased against the Bush administration (especially after she accidentally gave Edwards an extra 15 seconds)....as they tried to claim about Leher's questions last week.

I caught it once.(guess I missed one)

I did think she was an excellent moderator however.

She did at least try to call them out on it, especially with Edwards, when she said that he basically did not answer the question, to which he became slightly flustered.

Cheney did it once or twice too, and she tried to call him on it as well.

At least we didnt see Jim Lehrer sitting there like a zombie watching the clock. At least Ifill was paying attention.

Lehrer did ask slightly tougher questions to Bush, and didnt question Kerry at all on his Senate record, or on his vascilating statements on his vote for the Iraq war. If there was a bias to either side under Lehrer, it was very slight, and really not enough to make a difference in my opinion, but he did not have the same control over the debate that Gwen Ifill seemed to have last night.

Ifill asked tough questions of both men, and tried as best she could to get them to answer the questions, which is why I feel she is a better moderator than Jim Lehrer.

I thought she did a good job. I just read that Charles Gibson (GMA) will be moderating Friday's debate....

I agree. She did well and tried her best to be fair to both people and force the rules. Of course there were slip ups on both canidates but other than that it was a good night and I liked it a lot better than the last one since they got down to the issues.

It still seemed too long though.

I guess debates just seem that way anyway you look at them, and 90 plus minutes without a commercial is a bit long. It is like watching a boring movie, but since you paid 9 bucks, you dont want to leave, out of principal.
