Debate reflections...

I'll be brief... Bush did not look like he wished to be elsewhere tonight. Beyond that, Kerry again wins. An incumbent should have an advantage; they live the issues daily. Kerry clearly bested him on so many things. Bush also showed arrogance by talking over Charles Gibson.

Bush is in deep doo doo.

I thought Bush won hands down this time. I especially liked the way he didn't mention anything at all negative about his opponent in his last two minutes for the closing arguments. Instead, and unlike Kerry, he really used his two minutes to give a good summary of some of his key points and it left me feeling very satisfied with the debate tonight.

I have to say, I just LOVED the first question and seeing Kerry for once get a bit flustered with the "wishy-washy" question LOL

I thought he had a total melt down, (Bush), he looked like a deer caught in the headlights on several ocassions, to me but I'm sure the spin tomorrow will be a victory to Bush, I think Kerry was excellent once again. Did you notice the one question abou t3 things you have done wrong? Bush could not admit to one mistake? I don't like a man or woman who cannot admit that they have made a mistake. 25 more days!!!! GO KERRY!

I do believe only diehard Bush supporters thought he won. Did better than last time, yes... won, no way. Kerry showed more respect for people, was nicer, more knowledgeable... president showed a temper, talked over people, dismissed valid concerns (Patriot Act) I'll wager polls show Kerry won.

I totally agree with that... anyone who can't say they screwed even one thing up is not credible. When I used to supervise staff, I'd have never accepted such an answer. If you don't know your weaknesses, you aren't going to accomplish much.

Bush actually did a great job with this question, where Kerry did not. In Kerry's rebuttal, he starts out by bashing it pretty badly and then when his time is almost up says that he voted for it and agrees with it....but...etc, etc (in true Kerry form, so I guess it wasn't that surprising)

Did anyone watch the CNN coverage? What was that weird blue & yellow meter thing they had superimposed on the screen? I guess it was measuring audience response, I just wondered how......were there electrodes strapped to the audience or what???? Just curious....

Then your beliefs are incorrect. I am actually not a true diehard Bush supporter, but I support most of his policies. I don't agree with much of what Kerry has to say, and he still comes off as seeming very slimy to me...like a used car salesman...Something about him really reeks of untrustworthiness.

Kerry also said why he voted for it and why he disagrees with elements of it now. No offence, but Bush supporters cling to this notion of 'flip flop' without consideration for why. Plenty of people in Congress feel the same way, including Republicans. It has no chance of being renewed as is. Kerry also gave a specific example of how it harms.

Prior to the debates I heard pundits, from both sides, state that it is the challenger with the edge in a debate, not the incumbent. Living the issues doesn't give them an advantage, it makes them an easier target, because they are living the issues as where the challenger is a mere bystander in the issues at this point.
