Here's the link: http://jesusisaliberal.org/

Just a little bit from the page:

Peacemaking, not War Making: Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Resist

not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. I say unto you, Love your

enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despite-fully use you, and

persecute you;

The Death Penalty: Thou shalt not kill

Crime and Punishment: If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to cast a stone at her. Do not judge, lest

you too be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured

to you.

Justice: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the

merciful: for they shall obtain mercy But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your

trespasses.

Corporate Greed and the Religion of Wealth: In the temple courts found men selling cattle, sheep and doves and other

sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle;

he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. Watch out! Be on your guard against

all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. Truly, I say unto you, it will

be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. You cannot serve both God and Money.

Paying Taxes & Separation of Church & State: Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the

things that are God's.

Community: Love your neighbor as yourself. . So in everything, do to others as you would have them do to you.

If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.

Equality & Social Programs: But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed,

because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.

Public Prayer & Displays of Faith: And when thou pray, thou shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in

the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

But thou, when thou pray, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret…

Strict Enforcement of Religious Laws: If any of you has a son or a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take

hold of it and lift it out? The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.

Individuality & Personal Spiritual Experience: Ye are the light of the world.

>>>also want to take the time to say that since you have started coming here you have been resonsible for posting a great many interesting and thought provoking links and information and they have breathed a lot of new life into this board by providing many opportunities to debate a great many subjects.

I am impressed by the amount of research you do and am encouraged to see a young person such as yourself taking the time to learn about and discuss many different subjects. <<<

Bev, this is a reply from my father, please excuse his cryptic brevity- my parents are one of the unlucky households that got hit by 3 of the 4 hurricanes that came through Florida and their insurance adjuster is finally coming today so he was in a rush:

A few comments---I am leaving the college and off to the house ---the insurance adjustor is finally

coming.

1. one cannot take this as an absolute prohibition since judging is called

for in several other texts.

i.e., when Jesus warns about false messiahs, prophets, and teachers---one

has to judge or one will be deceived.

or

the apostle Paul matter of factly mentions the practice of judging of

confessing Christians, I Cor 5:9-13 to specifically reject judging

nonbelievers.

2. the real issue is the attitude one takes in judging (compare

Luke 6: 36-37) and consistency

does one engage in the same fault? It is always amazing that persons appear

to be the most insecure or sensitive to the faults in others that they

themselves are subject to.

3. the basis of receiving mercy is to give mercy compare Matt. 6:12 ...15

4. no matter how merciful one can be one still cannot in the name of mercy

call sin ----acceptable.

It's all so difficult to understand- A lot of voter's cast their ballots based upon a single issue, being told to vote a certain way by their spouse, parent and sometimes even their church. And oftentimes this means they have skipped the very important critical thought process that should go into making such an important decision.

Faith-based liberalism?

Self-professed liberal Democrats are some of the most intolerant people I've ever met.

I've heard nothing but Bush-bashing because of his faith. The Associated Press always uses the word "faith-based" in a negative connotation. How can you resolve this blatant discrepancy?

LMAO, Jesus is a liberal? Oh sure, He would be all for abortion... gay rights... removing our right to defend ourselves (keep and bear arms)... providing federal tax money for birth control and abortions... destroying embryos, human life He created, for research... allowing an incredibly hateful, sinful man like Saddam to remain in power to torture and kill by the thousands... removing any reference to Him from schools, federal property, and other public property...

Here is my criticism of Bush's PROFESSED faith-based leadership- ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

Furthermore, only ONE church in America ---the Southern Baptists,

supported the invasion of Iraq----ONLY ONE.

"I'm curious: what did Jesus say about keeping and bearing arms???"

Great question!

Luke 22:36: "Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one."
