Fall of 1969

It was in the fall of 1969
When the rustling leaves parted ways
There were many hopes and dreams
But all plans for the future
Turned trivial in tantamount
And dissolved like wet sugar
As the fist of war closed in

Two childhood friends
Vowed to keep in touch
Mike was drafted to Nam
Jeff headed to Kent State

Dark etchings lurked overhead
The smallest spark
Could set off a blast of fury
Floods of protest filled the air and
Riots ravaged the city streets
Storms of billy-clubs and tear gas rained
On campuses across the country
A country in chaos
At the mercy of the war machine
Its monster wheels grinding in motion

Jeffs' letter spews

No - leave off the end line punctuation and let the caps and line breaks speak for themselves!

Absolutely epic! And strangely coincidental, what with my boyfriend playing "Ohio" for me on the guitar. We've been dating 3 years and he springs it on me last night.

Anyway, I'm fascinated by the time period (I was 9 then)and you did a fine job of painting a vivid picture of the chaos, confusion, and passion that marked the 60's. I love what Pat did to it, but it blew me away before I even saw the improvements. Bravo!
