Should Women Have The Choice To Abort In Cases Of Rape Or Incest?

  • No. I'm with Sarah Palin. Women should never have the choice to abort.
  • Yes. Women should have a choice regarding their pregnancy.

What I find interesting about this part of the Presidential debate is that many of the women who are "swayed" by McCain (and even more now, perhaps, with Palin) don't actually know McCain's positions. You remember that one "former Hillary delegate" that cut the McCain ad a few weeks ago saying she was voting for McCain (before Palin)? Well, it turned out she wasn't even aware McCain opposed abortion:

Hey PUMAs: McCain Wants to Overturn Roe. This Isn't a Joke

Debra Bartoshevich is a Hillary Clinton supporter (aka PUMA) who just cut an ad supporting John McCain. In a press conference launching the ad, she had this to say about John McCain's record on choice:

Going back to 1999, John McCain did an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle saying that overturning Roe v. Wade would not make any sense, because then women would have to have illegal abortions.

That's true, he did. John McCain has a history of making statements that would appear to put him on both sides of an issue. It's hard to make sense of his positions sometimes. Here, specifically, is McCain's quote from 1999: "I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force X number of women in America to illegal and dangerous operations."

And here's Carly Fiorina, top McCain surrogate, furthering the confusion earlier this year: " has never signed on to efforts to overturn Roe vs. Wade."

But the 1999 quote is outdated and Fiorina is just plain wrong. McCain is an uncompromising pro-lifer. Why not take a look at what the McCain website has to say? It's pretty explicit. Here's a screenshot:

And here's John McCain at the Saddleback Forum, in front of a Christian crowd: "I have a 25-year pro-life record in the Congress, in the Senate. And as President of the United States, I will be a pro-life president and this presidency will have pro-life policies. That’s my commitment, that’s my commitment to you."

McCain's words and McCain's record both suggest that he would support restrictions on choice and appoint Supreme Court justices in the mold of Roberts, Alito, Scalia, and Thomas. Let there be no confusion about this.

Now in darkness, world stops turning
Ashes where the bodies burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has sturck the hour
Day of judgement, God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling Begging

It's a woman's body. It should be ONLY her choice. ANY ONE that wants to make abortion illegal and TELL a woman what to do with her body needs to SHUT UP and stop being a hypocrite!

I'd die of embarassment if I ran around beating the feminist drum for John McCain and then suddenly discovered that I didn't even know what

What makes a pro life person a hypocrite?

It's not the pro-lifers in general. Believing what you want is what America is all about! I said the people that want to TELL a woman what to do with her own body need to stop being hypocritical. Huge difference. There are many pro-lifers that don't want to tell a woman what to do with her own body, because they respect women to make their own decisions. Clearly McCain and Palin think they have the right to tell a woman what to do with her own body. That's hypocritical. He can't even have children, and she would be imposing her own religious views into govt policy. Not what America needs.

I'm Pro-life and I believe abortion should be legal. I simply don't accept the "pro-life" political label. I think it is deliberately divisive and does nothing to

So you are saying Sarah Palin exercised her right to choose, and you agree with the choice.

So, why should other women be denied the right to choose if it's a choice you disagree with?

Isn't that really the issue? Sarah Palin chose the way you like. BUT she had a choice.
