What can a candidate do to earn your vote?

The election is just around the corner. While some have already made up their minds, what do you traditionally look for in a candidate? Whether at the national or local level, what can a candidate do to earn your vote?

I don't think either of the mainstream candidates can earn my vote at this point.

Offer a clear, understandable healthcare plan and a vision for the future of renewable energy.

Let's see.... What can a candidate do to get my vote? Hmmmm....

Well First off would be........

STOP ATTACKING EACH OTHER OVER EVERY LITTLE THING! I hate mudslinging with a firey passion. I care about who a candidate is but for pete's sake people. I would rather see what a candidate is going to do about the issues and if he has the background to back it up. What were his votes in the senate about an issue?, not what he did to his grandma yesterday. Ok so Obama is a bit of a celebrity. Who cares? Can he get the job done? I think so. Like other posts have said he is popular with foreign countries and believe it or not that is a good thing. We need to have better relations with the outside world before everyone completely hates us. All of the sudden Obama is sexist? I don't think so! I don't think he could be with as head strong wife as he has. This country needs a major change and I think we need that.

2. What are you going to do about the environment? - We need to make sure that we get our greenhouse gases down in order to even have a planet. The world itself needs to be more environmentally conscious and band together. The government today is not doing enough to exhaust every option. We need to reduce dependancy on fossil fuels and work on technology for renewable energy. We need to stop cutting down our forests. How about planting a tree to replace the one you cut down. Stop repaving a road every other year. Use that money to do something more worthwhile.

3. How are you going to save the economy? - A lot of families are struggling these days. While the tax package helped a bit, it did not help enough. What kind of plan do you have to make things better?

4. What about healthcare? - Obesity is running rampant through this country. Too many people can't afford proper healthcare and are suffering for it.

5. Lastly, How about education? - Personally I think no child left behind is a bunch of bullhockey. It only helps school who get the proper test scores, while the schools who can't afford to put in the labor and time to help their kids get better test scores are worse off than when they started. They have to cut teachers and make classes overcrowded and can't help anyone. College education? Who can afford it with funding being cut and the tuition hikes? I would love to go back to school and get a college degree but who wants to be thousands of dollars in debt just to not be able to get a job?

Sorry rambled a bit didn't I? Show me a worthwhile plan or at least an effort. Stick to the issues and not who did this and who did that and you have my vote. I want someone to stand up and be the better man or woman.
