What can a candidate do to earn your vote?

The election is just around the corner. While some have already made up their minds, what do you traditionally look for in a candidate? Whether at the national or local level, what can a candidate do to earn your vote?

Easiest question I've had to answer

Since man is inherently flawed, the less a candidate promises, the more I believe him.

The gov't needs to stop being the insurer of last resort, and keep its stinking nose out of the markets. Promoting more competition in all industries is best way to minimize damage by the loss of one or more entities.

Be 100% honest and not try to smear their opponent.

Number one, above all else: TELL THE TRUTH. Stop engaging in dirty politics. Prove that you have the ability to lead with a level head and and open mind. Be specific about how you are going to make this country better.

Talk, act and run ads respectably and honestly, and for God's sake, address the issues: Economy, mortgage crisis, pension fund crisis, need for universal health care, need to invest in alternative energy and foreign policy.

1. Have a proven track record of being responsible with the nation's foreign policy. Someone who will be a strong leader that rogue nations will be less likely to try to test.

2. Have a proven track record of voting for tax cuts.

What I look for, a lack of BS, is sadly lacking in most politicians.

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.

Be honest about where they stand on the issues that are important to me. I don't want to see a lot of mudslinging, I don't want "funny" jokes, just tell me where you stand on the subjects that are going to greatly affect my life and the life of my child.
