Behind the lies, distortions, and personal attacks. . .Desperation:

Democrats on Capitol Hill fear Obama fallout

Democratic jitters about the US presidential race have spread to Capitol Hill, where some members of Congress are worried that Barack Obama’s faltering campaign could hurt their chances of re-election.

Party leaders have been hoping to strengthen Democratic control of the House and Senate in November, but John McCain’s jump in the polls has stoked fears of a Republican resurgence.

A Democratic fundraiser for Congressional candidates said some planned to distance themselves from Mr Obama and not attack Mr McCain.

“If people are voting for McCain it could help Republicans all the way down the ticket, even in a year when the Democrats should be sweeping all before us,” said the fundraiser, a former Hillary Clinton supporter.

“There is a growing sense of doom among Democrats I have spoken to . . . People are going crazy, telling the campaign ‘you’ve got to do something’.”

Concern was greatest among first-term representatives who won seats in traditionally Republican districts in the landslide of 2006. “Several of them face a real fight to hold on to those seats,” the fundraiser said.

Tony Podesta, a senior Democratic lobbyist, said members of Congress were “a little nervous” after Mr McCain shook up the race with his choice of Sarah Palin as running mate and intensified attacks on Mr Obama.

“Republicans have been on the offensive for the past two weeks . . . You don’t win elections on the defensive.”

The campaign manager for a first-term Democratic congressman from a blue-collar district in the north-east rejected suggestions that Mr Obama had become a liability. He said his candidate would reach out to Republicans and avoid attacks on Mr McCain.

"Jesus was a Community Organizer, Pontius Pilot was a Governor"

Sorry, but you'll have to take your case to the Dem Party who's now comparing Obama to Jesus and Palin to Pontius Pilot.

Sorry, I've never heard that. I did hear that some feel that Palin is more like Bush than McCain. Some want Palin for president rather than McCain, so she can come out and say "Howdy,Ya'll, good afternoon"

<<< So would we. It’s pretty clear that, while Obama is a good scripted speaker, he’s far too inexperienced to be President, and he’s demonstrated that at every turn, being wrong on every issue and at least three days behind McCain on the curve. It’s even more appalling when they attack Palin as “too inexperienced” and “a mother,”…only highlighting Obama’s inexperience by comparison.

*** And McCain and Palin aren't scripted???? Come'on....

Actually, it’s pretty well known that McCain is at his best when he’s unscripted. And unlike Ob…uh…hm…uh…ama, both McCain and Palin can string two sentences together without a script.

<<< Right…”fear”…Iran building a nuclear weapons program, Russia flexing it’s muscles invading it’s neighbors, terrorist threats, Israel with a twitchy trigger finger…”fear,” indeed, than an inexperienced fop could be in the Oval during these dangerous times.

*** And an experienced person would do better? I doubt that. NO one knows what will happen until it happens.

Um…yes, of course. Are you really trying to make a case for “inexperience” when talking about the office of the President of the United States?

*** Bush was "experienced" wasn't he?

Yes, Bush had executive experience as the governor of Texas.

*** Plus it is soooo easy for Americans to want to fight in someone else's back yard isn't it?

Ernow you’re making a case for a war fought on US soil? You should really re-think your position on a few issues.

<<< Bosnia… Somalia… Haiti… Kosovo… Iraq… WTT Bombing… OBL failures …higher taxes… troopergate… travelgate… Whitewater… Lewinsky… Pauls Jones… Jennifer Flowers…Impeachment… and the list goes on and on. It’s a good thing he didn’t do a “horrible job” in office.

*** Gotta bring his personal life up huh...LOL. Last time I checked...We Americans were doing pretty darn good here. Not so much under Bush.

LOL! Many HUGE bungles in foreign policy, national security and the economy, not to mention scandal after scandal and you come up with “Gotta bring his personal life up huh.” Wow…talk about denial. But then again, you also advocate Presidential inexperience and domestic wars…hey, you’re not an Obama supporter, are you?

<<< Oh, you mean a man with morals and values who will stand up to our enemies rather than appease them? LOL!

*** Not sure what you mean...I actually loved Jeb Bush!! That comment was more tongue in cheek.

Mine wasn’t. Jeb’s a good guy…so is his brother, the President.

*** Nah, Not voting for McCain/Palin. Heck I wanted McCain to get the ticket in 2000! I loved him! hmmm, Palin...I'm not sold. Nope.

And you’re sold on Biden, who's been wrong on every foreign policy/national security issues for the past decade? ; )

*** Yeah...and Clinton was supposed to be the AntiChrist and So was BUSH. LOL. . .

But we all know that it's Barry, don't we? ; )

*** One can only watch and see. Besides.............I believe the "anti christ" is supposed to rise from the middle east, per some sources. I'm sure the Obama haters will pratically place his birth there.

I believe that the text has him "rising from a sea"...which some have interpreted as the "sea" of politics...but who knows?

*** BTW, I don't view him or no other man as the Messiah. Anyone who does needs to get their head checked.

Well, then I guess about 30% of the people in the world need to get their heads checked. ; )

*** It just amazes me that people are so up-to-do about his popularity, yet these same people pratically praise Bush.

Bush has earned the praise he gets. And if people flocked to Obama because of his accomplishments or the substance of his message, I'd probably be right there with him. Unfortunately, he's an empty suit with an old slogan.

*** Sorry, I've never heard that.

A monumentally stupid remark by Dem Steve Cohen on the floor of the house.

*** I did hear that some feel that Palin is more like Bush than McCain.

Everyone's got an opinion. I've heard that some feel Obama is a lot like Jimmy Carter...and Karl Marx.

*** Some want Palin for president rather than McCain, so she can come out and say "Howdy,Ya'll, good afternoon"

Sounds like an elitist jab. I guess Palin isn't "cosmopolitan" enough for you.

Yep .... and it's up to the voters to decide what to do if they fail to keep them. It would seem some Democrats are in trouble this year for their failure to keep promises.

Can you imagine how totally desperate the Democrats must be to make comparisons like this!! Not only desperate, :)but also how totally out of touch with the voters!!

I understand their newest strategy is to set up Joe -foot in the mouth - Biden as an attack dog. . .now THAT should lead to some interesting headlines. . .headlines Obama will be less able to distance himself from.
