Bin Laden was in our sights once and we didnt take the shot. That was Bill Clinton. He just lobbed missles at them from a distance and pissed them off so they decided to fly planes into our buildings.

Choose Obama and get pandering to our enemies like the Clinton years. Choose McCain and be sure that our enemies will think very long and hard before making any attempts to harm us.

All presidents from Reagan until Bush II categorically failed to recognize the seriousness of the threat from the middle east.

That's not strictly true, you know; some of those Presidents (**cough**Reagan**cough**) actually armed, funded and TRAINED the thread from the middle east. Remember when those tough Afghan rebels were fondly referred to as "the mujahideen," and romanticized by everyone from the President to Hollywood, in such pictures as the Timothy Dalton flick The Living Daylights?:

Accordingly, she puts Bond to sleep with a spiked beverage and engenders his capture. They are flown to a Soviet air base in Afghanistan, where Koskov betrays Milovy and imprisons her along with Bond. They escape and in doing so free a condemned prisoner, Kamran Shah, leader of the local Mujahideen. Bond discovers that Whitaker and Koskov are paying diamonds for a large shipment of opium, in order to turn a huge profit with enough left over to supply the Soviets with their arms.

The Mujahideen help Bond and Milovy to infiltrate the air base. Bond plants a bomb in the back of the cargo aeroplane transporting the opium, but Koskov recognises him just as he is leaving. Bond hijacks the plane, while the Mujahideen attack the airbase on horseback. Milovy joins Bond on a jeep in the back of the plane as they take off and later assumes the controls while Bond leaves to defuse his bomb. Necros, however, had stowed away on board and attacks Bond. Bond throws Necros to his death after a struggle and deactivates the bomb. Milovy flies over Kamran Shah's Mujahideen, who are being pursued by Soviet soldiers across a bridge. Bond drops his bomb onto the bridge, preventing the Soviets' pursuit of Kamran and his men.

Good times, with our old pals the Mujahideen, those scrappy Afghan freedom-fighters who look a lot (if you squint) like our own minutemen: just fighting to be free of the oppressive bootheel of the Soviets, and not in any religious or political fanatics who would turn into Al Qaeda, right?? ROFL.

Acutally nearly every two term President can claim 7 years with no attacks against the US -- if you are counting "the US" as "US soil".

Hell, Al Qaeda shot up the US embassy in Istanbul not long ago - what's that, if not a terrorist attack on the US, by antisocialist's lights?

Oh, like all the attacks against US service members in Afghanistan and Iraq? You can't really have this one both ways.

Attacks on US military installation in Iraq and on the Green Zone would count too. I only say this because the responsibility for the Istanbul attack may be a bit dubious. It might have been al-Qaeda, it may also have been one of the native groups sponsored by the military deep state.

You may very well be correct - but that just means it wasn't Al Qaeda, not that it wasn't terrorism, which is what our dear fellow-boardie was talking about, in trying to tout Bu$hCo's record.
