This is my first time posting on this board.  It seems like there are alot of very well-informed and passionate people here!  I look forward to hearing all your thoughts.

This was sent to me by a friend, and another ivillage friend suggested I share it here.  It certainly makes you think.

What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class? What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said "I do" to? What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?

What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization? What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard? What if Obama were a member of the "Keating 5"? What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?

This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

Barack Obama does Cocaine and admits it, painkiller addiction is no laughing matter, at least Cindy McCain got help and she had a very bad knee injury! I would not make fun of all the people suffering from addiction...Obama never went to rehab for his Cocaine use! THAT is not Presidential material, as for JOHN MCCAINS first wife she LEFT him, and moved on while he was in captivity, why do you find it necessary to lie? Will that make people believe you?

I'm sorry you're so angry.

He would probably be doing better against McCain, but he never would have beaten Hillary...

I never said he beat Hillary "simply" because he was black.

He beat Hillary fair and square- they were neck and neck throughout most of the primaries which I owe to them BOTH being very powerful candidates and if Hillary would have won out I would be supporting her. I never said Obama ONLY beat Hillary because of his "charisma" (which is not only a male trait, but that fact is, he has ALOT more "charisma" than Hillary did and McCain ever will)- he beat her because the democrats saw a stronger candidate-period. Hillary, in my opinion, was a tough contender and DESERVED to be neck and neck in the primaries- McCain, in my opinion,

"to say that he supported a racist organization under a racist leader is short-sighted. "

If race is the problem, talk to your fellow Dems. Most Republicans are voting for McCain based on the issues.

Would you vote for, say a
