Clueless about the economy

Does John McCain really believe that our economy is fundamentally sound? Is this guy out of his freakin’ mind? He is either too old or too stupid to be president. Umployment is down. Wages are down. The price of everything is up. The deficit is up. The national debt is up. Yeah, sounds like the economy is in great shape, John. Perhaps it is time for another tax break for those who make over $250,000 a year. We could use some of that Reagan trickledown voodoo economics about now.
Perhaps when McCain is elected, his new treasury secretary Phil Gramm will straighten all of us whiners out?
The guys seem to be clueless about the economy.

That is not hogwash at all. Republicans believe in a free market system, capitalism, and private enterprise. Free markets produce more economic growth, more jobs and higher standards of living than those systems burdened by excessive government regulation.

Democratic leaders want us all to be slaves to the government. They believe everything good flows from government down. More taxes, more regulations, so they can have greater power over the people.

Actually, I am inclined to agree with you. I think President Bush didn't say anything negative about these things because it gave him political points. I remember him saying that during his administration more minorities were homeowners than ever before. I know that he doesn't really have any power over this. I think the Republican led congress should have addressed it when they were in power, but it looks like they had some short term benefits, also, by leaving it be. I really blame the old Republican congress (the one that has been replaced) than anyone else, because we know the Democrats weren't going to go against something Bill Clinton put into effect.

I was responding to this comment by dr. livingston: This was a very smart economic policy considering the fearful conditions that existed after 9/11.

I like to read dr. livingston's posts. It is nice to see common sense answers posted here.

Ideally, the Republicans believe in a smaller government.

**Yes, I KNOW this, but it's still a product that has gotten someone very wealthy, that can't be changed. I'd say the same if she was connected to Coors Beer or any other Beer or alcohol. **

Have you noticed President Bush's approval numbers? With numbers like that there has to be dissatisfaction from both Democrats AND Republicans. Both sides are angry with him, only for different reasons. We don't like his big government, big spending, acting like a Democrat. Democrats don't like the war, and the fact that he has a "R" after his name.

I agree ... those kind of arguments make me think "grasping at straws".
