NOW Endorses Obama-Biden

The blowback on the Palin nomination continues. While the main thread of the netroots buzz is shifting to economic issues - Obama's strength, the reactions to the Palin candidacy are still percolating up from all areas of the electorate.

The other shoe is being dropped on McCain's ill-fated move to attract Hillary Clinton's supporters. It is being seen for what it is ... a McCain/Rove/Bush/Cheney MANipulation of women. No surprise ... guess it's not working out so well for the Repubs after all.

I've got to respectfully disagree with you here.

Well...they can't reject you unless to wish to join them, and they turn you away.

NOW should really change its oranizational name. It is quite apparent that it truly is the National Organization for Liberal Women, in the future to be referred to as NOLW.

Funny, you're not the first person to suggest this. Only the charming wingnuts on the radio suggested it be called the "National Organization for Whores."

What a guy!

But for the present age, which prefers the sign to the thing signified, the copy to the original, representation to reality, appearance to essence.....truth is considered profane, and only illusion sacred. Sacredness

I agree on part of what you say... there is no way Palin should have been hammered over family and her choices. Gloria Steinem, whilst otherwise eviscerating Sarah's politics, did somewhat acknowledge that was unfair. And again... somewhat, not as strong as I'd like.

Her pol views are fair game.

I'm a choicer in the larger sense of the word. I may not support your choices, but so long as we support the right of each of us to make our own, we're good.

They may reject you on pol views, but I'm pretty sure they support your personal right not to terminate a pregnancy. If they don't, then they aren't choicers.

NOW is a political organisation, representing some feminists with their own pov. They do not carry the definitive feminist position, none of us do.

I'm not thrilled with how they handled themselves with Palin, but

It wasn't meant that literally, but you already knew that.
