McCain on banking and health

OK, a correspondent directs me to John McCain’s article, Better Health Care at Lower Cost for Every American, in the Sept./Oct. issue of Contingencies, the magazine of the American Academy of Actuaries. You might want to be seated before reading this.

Here’s what McCain has to say about the wonders of market-based health reform:

Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation.

So McCain, who now poses as the scourge of Wall Street, was praising financial deregulation like 10 seconds ago — and promising that if we marketize health care, it will perform as well as the financial industry!>>>

That is not an honest printout of my post as I posted the link with it. You did NOT ask for "some legitimate link to be found on some congressional site"! This is the FIRST time I have received this request. This piece came from the TOLEDO BLADE. It is a legitimate newspaper, it is not some extremist blog like the one you describe calling McCain delusional, senile, etc. It is a piece that offers opinion on REAL FACTS. Not made up opinions about someone's senility. If the Democrats did NOT threaten to filibuster, then he will have to retract that FACT in a later piece. Personally I don't think he would have printed it if he did not know it was a fact. Why don't you WRITE HIM AN EMAIL asking him where he got his info? If you can prove that these facts are not correct, THEN you will have a point. Otherwise you are comparing apples to oranges.

And... I didn't think you would apologize.

And for the very first time, you would be correct.

The following is an opinion piece from the liberal side.

Opinions are DIFFERENT from facts. An opinion is how someone feels about a fact. The Democrats threatened to filibuster is a FACT. He doesn't like that the Democrats threatened to filibuster is an OPINION. You can't print false facts in a mainstream newspaper without repercussions. Until there is some proof that Jack Kelly lied, I will believe him.

And you know what you should apologize about. The fact that you accuse ME of needing a reading comprehension course when in fact it was YOU who misread the post. That should have been embarrassing, but I guess it wasn't. It is enlightening, however.
