Fear of what might happen
| Mon, 09-22-2008 - 7:49am |
All I hear and read from John McCain is how we must fear what will happen if Barack Obama is elected.
The problem is that all the bad things that have happened over the last eight years and continue to happen came under a Republican president. Before Bush took office, 9-11 had not happened. Back then, gasoline cost about $1.50 a gallon. Food prices and everything else was pretty tolerable. But then Bush was elected and ever since that time things have been going down hill in this country.
I do not fear what might be under Obama more than I fear what has been and will be continued if McCain follows Bush into office.
McCain supports all of Bush’s policies. So voting for McCain is like extending Bush’s term for four more years.
I do not think this country can survive four more years of George W. Bush. That thought scares the hell out of me.

Go back and reread .41. If I read it right, looks to me like they got their convictions. What did you want him to do? String them up by their toes?
Did you get the point that al qaeda does not care about convictions, as they obviously don't care about their people being killed in the attacks?
And that those conviction did absolutely nothing to degrade al qaeda's ability/desire to attack us again. Arresting the attacker does nothing to prevent further attacks.
And Clinton did nothing about the attacks on the WTC, USS Cole, the embassies, etc...
Actually, that isn't quite true. Clinton did go after the terrorists who attacked the USS Cole. They were found, tried, and are currently in prison. I noticed you didn't address read my lips Bush, and his lack of action regarding taxes, and regarding letting OBL get away. I disagree, the economy was in good shape when Bush took over. It certainly didn't take long for him to screw that up.
A lot of people do care about their president's morals, maybe you don't. He also lied under oath in court.
Then people have certainly changed a lot. There are several books out, listing the presidents and their mistresses. There have been VERY few who haven't had affairs while in office. Even Roosevelt in his wheelchair had a mistress. Buchanan was gay and Harding had his mistress living in the White House! Then you must not be for McCain, who cheated on his wife for three years before divorcing her, and marrying this ultra-rich one. Nice of him to treat her as he did, when she waited over five years for him to return from VietNam. Of course, having her face disfigured in an accident didn't help someone with his lack of morals. BTW: I don't believe there's a man on earth who wouldn't have lied under the same circumstances. I love how hypocritical conservatives can be when it's one of their own!

*** Clinton isn't a war monger
Nah, Clinton is the "rocket man." Like most Democrats he was unable to deal with our enemies decisively so his strategy was to fire missiles at them...and he still missed.
*** the economy was in good shape when Bush took over.
Clinton left Bush with a recession.
*** It certainly didn't take long for him to screw that up.
With the recession, the 9/11 attacks, the massive spending on national security and conducting two wars, Bush's economic policies led to an incredibly strong and successful economy...until the Dems took over Congress, after which, the economy started to go down hill.

It seems to me that the more "notable" ones didn't have affairs...but I'm sure Hillary is comforted to know that the lackluster President's did. I'm also sure that John Edwards is delighted that he has your vote in 2012. ; )

I love revisionist history...links? LOL!

It's so funny to actually hear a woman apologize for a man who serial-cheated on this wife. LOL!

GDP went negative in the 3rd quarter of 2000, during the Clinton administration. Quite a feat for Bush to screw it up months before he took office!

Her car accident was in 1969, he was released in 1973. The divorce was in 1980. She has said that her injuries had nothing to due with the divorce. At least they didn't stay in a broken marriage, like the Clintons.
I don't believe there's a man on earth who wouldn't have lied under the same circumstances.
Wow, that is quite forgiving! Now, I would think that a lot of men would draw the line at lying under oath, in federal court, as a sitting president.
But, neither you nor Bill draw the line there. Sorry you feel that way, but there are men on earth who would not have lied under those circumstances, Bill's just not one of them.
Oh, do you mean these missed targets?

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Saying "there will be no sanctuary for terrorists," President Clinton on Thursday said the U.S. strikes against terrorist bases in Afghanistan and a facility in Sudan are part of "a long, ongoing struggle between freedom and fanaticism."

American cruise missiles pounded sites in Afghanistan and Sudan Thursday in retaliation for the August 7 bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
U.S. officials say the six sites attacked in Afghanistan were part of a network of terrorist compounds near the Pakistani border that housed supporters of Saudi millionaire Osama bin Laden.
American officials say they have "convincing evidence" that bin Laden, who has been given shelter by Afghanistan's Islamic rulers, was involved in the bombings of the east African embassies.
In the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, the El Shifa Pharmaceutical Industries factory -- which U.S. officials say was housing chemical weapons -- was also attacked.
Pentagon sources confirmed to CNN that the attacks were made with cruise missiles, not aircraft. The missiles were fired from ships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. The simultaneous attacks took place about 1:30 p.m. EDT (1730 GMT).
In a brief comment made before his departure, the president said, "Today, we have struck back."
The president said he ordered the strike against bin Laden and his compatriots because of "compelling information they were planning additional terrorist attacks against our citizens and others with the inevitable collateral casualties and .. seeking to acquire chemical weapons and other dangerous weapons."

Rubble, fire in Khartoum
Sudanese television showed piles of rubble at the factory and fire raging in the distance. People were seen walking through the damage, wearing masks.
Sudanese officials reacted angrily to the attacks. Interior Minister Abdul Rahim told CNN in a telephone interview that the privately owned pharmaceutical firm had "nothing to do with chemical weapons."
"We have no chemical weapons factory in our country," he said.
A statement read on Sudanese television about an hour after the attack said, "The wrongful American air force launched air attacks on Sudan tonight which aimed at strategic and vital areas." There was no report as to the number of casualties.

Bin Laden reportedly survives attack
In Afghanistan, a spokesman for the ruling Taliban, Mullah Abdullah, said that "bin Laden is safe and no damage has been done to any of his companions." Bin Laden has been living in Afghanistan with the permission of the Taliban, a fundamentalist Islamic group that controls most of the country.
Abdullah said the U.S. attacks were in Khost, about 90 miles (144 kilometers) south of the capital, Kabul, and on Jalalabad, 60 miles (96 kilometers) east of Kabul.
The supreme leader of the Taliban said they would never hand over bin Laden to the United States. A Pakistan-based Afghan news service quoted Mullah Mohammad Omar as condemning U.S. bombings on Afghan sites Thursday and saying that they showed "enmity" for the Afghan people.
Cohen: 'No sanctuary for terrorists'
U.S. Defense Secretary William Cohen said the goal of the strikes was to disrupt and attempt to destroy the suspected training and support facilities used to train "hundreds, if not thousands, of terrorists." (Audio 1.9 MB / 20 sec. AIFF or WAV sound)
"We recognize these strikes will not eliminate the problem," Cohen said. "But our message is clear. There will be no sanctuary for terrorists and no limit to our resolve to defend American citizens and our interests -- our ideals of democracy and law -- against these cowardly attacks."
Cohen said planning for the attack began within the last week.
Nice try!
