McCain's Political Theater?

I think McCain's "suspension" of his campaign to go to DC and sit around while Congress hammers out a bailout plan is just political theater.  I am not sure that McCain's presence is required at all.  He will need to vote on a bill either way, but he can fly in, vote and be back on the trail.  Also, I think postponing the debate is another political stunt.   You know, "country first."  Our country's representatives cannot work on this program without McCain and his campaign lobbyists sitting there sounds a bit ridiculous.   I think this political theater will play well to the base, but I think it makes McCain look like he cannot multi-task well enough to campaign then go vote on a bill.

I haven't a clue. Maybe their first debate should be on the state of the economy, especially since McCain thought it was financially fine just last week. He really has his finger on the pulse of our country! NOT

It's really a shame, this mess is at the doorstep of both Republicans and Democrats.

He can do his responsibility just fine from anywhere in the USA - he hasn't been there for a year, neither has Obama.

There is definitely a major problem here, and I don't presume to know the answer, but I feel uncomfortable about bailouts with no oversight.

So is McCain even ON one of the committees? If he isn't then this really is just a political ploy isn't it? How would we be able to find out who is actually on the committee? Is that info available to the public? I got the impression that information is very 'behind closed doors' and secretive. So I don't know how his presence in DC helps at all, except maybe to keep him from having to debate.
