McCain's Political Theater?

I think McCain's "suspension" of his campaign to go to DC and sit around while Congress hammers out a bailout plan is just political theater. I am not sure that McCain's presence is required at all. He will need to vote on a bill either way, but he can fly in, vote and be back on the trail. Also, I think postponing the debate is another political stunt. You know, "country first." Our country's representatives cannot work on this program without McCain and his campaign lobbyists sitting there sounds a bit ridiculous. I think this political theater will play well to the base, but I think it makes McCain look like he cannot multi-task well enough to campaign then go vote on a bill.

I'm sure my voice has the same clout as a person
Conservative columnist George Will wrote an op-ed piece which ran in today's Albuquerque Journal:
"It is arguable that, because of his inexperience, Obama is not ready for the presidency. It is arguable that McCain, because of his boiling moralism and bottomless reservoir of certitudes, is not suited to the presidency. Unreadiness can be corrected, although perhaps at great cost, by experience. Can a dismaying temperament be fixed?"

My jaw dropped when I read the above quote. Perhaps the McCain campaign read it too and is giving consideration on how best to look more thoughtful, and less emotionally precipitate and certain of rectitude without careful analysis or reflection*.
*Gee, we've had eight years of such a modus operandi with the current White House occupant--though he's a bit more wary now than was once his wont. Maybe Will too had GWB in mind and the ruinous effect he's had on the country.

If you aren't on the committee are they really going to let either Obama or McCain just 'sit in' on the discussion. I would think they would want to minimize the amount of political wrangling not exacerbate it. I think perhaps both Obama and McCain should be meeting with top economic and financial experts but stay out of the committee discussions until the debate comes to the floor. IMHO
Yeah, I did the faxing and e-mailing.
I really don't understand your question. What are you talking about with the Pelosi congress? McCain is a Senator. Pelosi is Speaker of the House.
It is his job as a senator to go to Washington and try to work this out - especially now, when our country is in crisis. This is what he and Obama SHOULD be doing. How can they expect to be trusted to lead America if they won't even stop their self centered posturing long enough to try to correct this mess?
