Sarah Makes Katie Nervous

In all the excitement of today's news I wonder how many saw the interview with Katie Couric today. Sarah did great. Katie had the nervous blinking syndrome. It was so interesting to watch Katie's reactions to Sarah - between all the blinks - I could sense some real hatred. I enjoyed watching it.

Here it is :

You'd best direct it to the Dutch, too - they have even less right to be posting here, wouldn't you say?

<< Again, why the hatred for Sarah Palin? What is it that is inside you that makes you so sure your opinions or views are correct or even relevant to this discussion?>>

I did not express hatred for Sarah Palin, on the contrary I expressed hope that she does better in the debate than she did in her interview with Katie Couric. I find that to be relevant to this discussion – perhaps you could explain why you don’t think it is relevant?

<< If you are Canadian, then it's a forgone conclusion that you have been indoctrinated into a socialist regime and are completely unaware of the substantial loss of your own freedoms. You healthcare, education and media are nothing more than continued font of this socialist agenda that has become the very fabric of the life you lead.>>

As I stated previously I am in fact a voting, taxpaying American citizen – but I do not agree that the rest of this paragraph is correct even if I HAD been Canadian.

<< Your education on the affairs of US polictics, if gleaned from any of our media outlets, it's tainted with an extreme and heavy liberal bias. It's no wonder you can relate to Barack Obama. He is the most left, inexperienced empty suit that has been offered up by the Democrat Party in years.>>

My education was obtained on American soil at an American university – my Masters Degree is also being pursued at an American university. In addition, my American parents have been politically active and have encouraged me to be politically active in America since Kennedy – you may remember him, he was an American president a while back. I relate to Obama because he is an intelligent, thoughtful person. I do not relate to McCain because he is too impulsive and seems to have anger control issues – not a presidential trait IMHO.

<< Why would our liberal media want to interview Palin? Very simply put, they want to destroy her. They have no interest in giving this woman credit for Her own life story. They come at her on an hourly basis with nothing more than 'gotcha' type quesitons in an attempt to somehow discredit her in the Independant voter's eyes.>>

Or perhaps to help the American public get to know this relatively unknown political figure so that when we got to the American polls we can make an INFORMED decision – but I do get why you might not want that after hearing her speak. I wonder what questions you would think were fair? Something you could email to her before the interview so she could write down her answers? Sort of like a ‘take home test’? In that case maybe we should do that for all of the candidates. Maybe she qualifies for some sort of presidential IEP that I didn’t know about – like allowing the use of a calculator or extra test time?

<< I don't mean to sound harsh here, but in order to break through the zombie like ideolgy that has taken over your very life, I feel I must spell this out in certain terms that even you will understand. Socialism doesn't work. You are not as free as you think you are.>>

I never said socialism does work – but surprisingly my American president seems to want to take our country in that direction to bail out the American Wall Street investors. Go figure!

<< You would be better served by getting involved in the affairs of your own country and taking a hard look at what you can do to improve your own situation before even pretending to know the first thing about what you are talking about here.
You need to move to the United States, Apply for Citizenship, Educate yourself, Pay taxes and contribute to the American dream. If you are looking for a cradle to grave existance sponsored by someone else, then you are probably right where you need to be ... in Canada. I have nothing against our neighbors to north, but I am extremely offended by your particular brand of discussion.>>

Silly me – I thought that by participating in a discussion board about Politics Today, especially concerning the American election that was what I was doing. As to improving my own situation I have already done that by going back to college and obtaining a degree and finding gainful employment without asking for government assistance other than Pell Grants and for a brief time reduced price lunches for my children.

<<. Again, I respect your right to say what you want about anything you want as long as you respect mine ;)>>

Perhaps we just have a different definition for the word respect, by the way I learned mine in an American school.

If your post was directed at someone else you should have selected the person to whom you were directing it. Even so as an American I object to such rude treatment of our neighbors to the north.

But don't you know that all American universities are extremely liberal, so you can't be getting a very good education there?

I agree. I'm rather tired of the condesending attitude directed at our friends from the North.

I found this to be the crux of your whole post...

"I don't mean to sound harsh here, but..."

As an attorney you should know that the simple word "but" following a statement means "disregard previous statement"

In other words, you DID mean to sound harsh, and indeed you did.

As concerning Sarah Palin, she has been kept from the media and witheld from giving interviews... you might ask yourself why that is.

She is not turning out to be the wonderful cheerleader she was brought in to be, is she?

And, the subject of this thread has nothing to do with Canada/USA...

Actually, "but" is a conjunction and does not mean to disregard the previous statement.

Why your problem must be with Ms. Parker the conservative columnist.

"I'm realizing that participating in this discussion is going to have no real effect and is better left to people that have time for this kind of stuff."

I think that's a wise decision.

I don't know if this was intended for broccoli or myself (but I'll address some of the points you raised anyway because I am the Canadian). I
