Sam Harris's Newsweek article acurately sums up my feelings on Palin.

A few good quotes:
"The point to be lamented is not that Sarah Palin comes from outside Washington, or that she has glimpsed so little of the earth's surface (she didn't have a passport until last year), or that she's never met a foreign head of state. The point is that she comes to us, seeking the second most important job in the world, without any intellectual training relevant to the challenges and responsibilities that await her. There is nothing to suggest that she even sees a role for careful analysis or a deep understanding of world events when it comes to deciding the fate of a nation."
"Palin's most conspicuous gaffe in her interview with Gibson has been widely discussed. The truth is, I didn't much care that she did not know the meaning of the phrase "Bush doctrine." And I am quite sure that her supporters didn't care, either. Most people view such an ambush as a journalistic gimmick. What I do care about are all the other things Palin is guaranteed not to know—or will be glossing only under the frenzied tutelage of John McCain's advisers. What doesn't she know about financial markets, Islam, the history of the Middle East, the cold war, modern weapons systems, medical research, environmental science or emerging technology? Her relative ignorance is guaranteed on these fronts and most others, not because she was put on the spot, or got nervous, or just happened to miss the newspaper on any given morning. Sarah Palin's ignorance is guaranteed because of how she has spent the past 44 years on earth."
"The prospects of a Palin administration are far more frightening, in fact, than those of a Palin Institute for Pediatric Neurosurgery. Ask yourself: how has "elitism" become a bad word in American politics? There is simply no other walk of life in which extraordinary talent and rigorous training are denigrated. We want elite pilots to fly our planes, elite troops to undertake our most critical missions, elite athletes to represent us in competition and elite scientists to devote the most productive years of their lives to curing our diseases. And yet, when it comes time to vest people with even greater responsibilities, we consider it a virtue to shun any and all standards of excellence. When it comes to choosing the people whose thoughts and actions will decide the fates of millions, then we suddenly want someone just like us, someone fit to have a beer with, someone down-to-earth—in fact, almost anyone, provided that he or she doesn't seem too intelligent or well educated."

Can you imagine how Putin is looking at this?
Let’s take a peek at the hypocrisy…
*** "The point to be lamented is not that Sarah Palin comes from outside Washington,
I always thought that Illinois was “outside” Washington.
*** or that she has glimpsed so little of the earth's surface (she didn't have a passport until last year),
Obama’s a “world traveler?” LOL! Oh, that’s right…Obama lived in Jakarta four 4 years as a kid…and there was that college trip to Pakistan. Well, Palin can see Russia from her backyard, so I think that pretty much puts her on a par with Barry.
*** or that she's never met a foreign head of state.
I hear Barry met a couple on his world tour. Palin met some earlier in the week…again, pretty much a tie.
*** The point is that she comes to us, seeking the second most important job in the world, without any intellectual training relevant to the challenges and responsibilities that await her. There is nothing to suggest that she even sees a role for careful analysis or a deep understanding of world events when it comes to deciding the fate of a nation."
Wow…sounds like the hack writer is describing Obama…except that Barry is actually seeking the MOST important job in the world. How arrogant is that?
*** "Palin's most conspicuous gaffe in her interview with Gibson has been widely discussed.
Yes…a “gotcha” question based on a lie.
*** The truth is, I didn't much care that she did not know the meaning of the phrase "Bush doctrine."
Neither did Charlie Gibson…or anyone else for that matter. It was an inane question and Charlie should be ashamed.
*** What I do care about are all the other things Palin is guaranteed not to know—or will be glossing only under the frenzied tutelage of John McCain's advisers. What doesn't she know about financial markets, Islam, the history of the Middle East, the cold war, modern weapons systems, medical research, environmental science or emerging technology?
Is there any evidence that Barry knew anything about anything before his advisors began to school him? His record certainly doesn’t show it. His record proves him to be an elitist neophyte with no relevant experience. Unlike Palin, he’s never run anything in his life.
*** Her relative ignorance is guaranteed on these fronts and most others, not because she was put on the spot, or got nervous, or just happened to miss the newspaper on any given morning. Sarah Palin's ignorance is guaranteed because of how she has spent the past 44 years on earth."
Um…being a mayor and governor of the state? As compared to Barry who has spend his life running for things and then using that position to run for other things? Sounds like great preparation for the Presidency…or at least campaigning for the Presidency. LOL!
*** "The prospects of a Palin administration are far more frightening, in fact, than those of a Palin Institute for Pediatric Neurosurgery.
Actually, it’s going to be a McCain administration.
*** Ask yourself: how has "elitism" become a bad word in American politics?
When you demonstrate it by putting down a majority of the population.
*** There is simply no other walk of life in which extraordinary talent and rigorous training are denigrated. That explains Barry’s popularity with the left.
Yeah…this “opinion” is pretty much partisan drivel. But thanks for posting it…it was fun tearing it apart and pointing out what a pile of hypocritical crap it is.
*** Can you imagine how Putin is looking at this?
Yeah...he's salivating over the prospect of Obama winning...so he can move forward with his plans for world domination.
Governments and leaders from all over the world are looking at these elections carefully. If we elect lightweights like Obama/Biden, then unfortunately we will have to live with the consequences...or not.
Very defensive!
I hate to rant on everything, but this is just too important to be calm and collected.
*** Very defensive!
Very factual!
*** I actually wasn't posting about Obama, I was posting about Palin.
I know...I was pointing out the blatant hypocrisy.
*** But since you once again feel the need to compare Obama and Palin (and really there is no comparison)...
I know...Palin has actually "run" a town and a state...Obama has only run his mouth.
*** While Obama has been criticized by his opponents as being elitist, no one has accused Palin of that.
She hasn't made elitist comments disparaging most Americans...Obama has.
*** And the reason is simple, she does not have the intellectual capacity to handle such an important position, let alone the political capability to field basic interview questions.
Yeah...LOL!...uh...er...um...uh...er...um...

*** Whatever you say about Obama, clearly he is a brilliant individual.
We...uh...um...er...uh...can...um...er...uh...um...see...uh...um...er...that. (see above. LOL!)
