Well the only way you are going to have your taxes raised under Obama's plan is if you make over $250,000 - so if you are making more than that and are still living 'pay check to pay check' something is wrong. I make considerably less than that - under $50,000 and as a single mother support 3 children and I don't live 'pay check to pay check'. I may not be able to buy my home or take fancy vacations but I am able to save money every month. Might suggest you visit the Living Frugal board here for some tips.
While I COMPLETELY respect you for living within your means (more people need to follow your lead, for sure)...It is not only households making over 200 or 250k
Hey everyone, thanks for the clarifications and all the input. they both bored me to death shortly after i posted this, i lost my interest and passed out on the couch. neither candidate was exciting enough to me to keep me awake! :)
Well if you do buy a house your tax bite goes down automatically - you get to deduct interest so you take home pay can be a bit higher. You really might want to consider some financial advice - if you are in the tax bracket that will see higher taxes you shouldn't be living paycheck to paycheck. Especially with student loans - did you know some of that interest is also tax deductible?
I don't file online - I use Tax Cut and it tells me which deductions I can take. I don't own a home, probably never will with my income. I don't have graduate loans - I let my employer pay for my masters degree - I can only take two classes a year so it is taking longer but it's free. I will be finished this spring and then will make a bit more, but still just around 50K so not enough to buy a home in this area. Don't know if consolidating the student loans might help. My undergraduate loans are federal loans so I'm leaving them alone the few times I have had financial problems, like when my daughter was hospitalized for a time, I was able to get deferment easily. I do know that from time to time I write down everything I spend money on - it makes me really think before I spend - and when I do this I almost always end up with more money at the end of the month. Lately I have been eating out too often so maybe it is time to do that again!
Eh? One cannot oppose a war unless one is in a senate?
Obama made a speech against going to war in Iraq as an Illinois state senator. So, considering the wording of the OP, yes, Obama was in the senate then, the ILLINOIS senate.
<....and....... Obama told the anti-war rally that day,"I don't oppose all wars. I know that in this crowd today, there is no shortage of patriots, or of patriotism. What I am opposed to is a dumb war." >> http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=88988093
Bear in mind that at the time Obama made his speech, most of the nation did not yet know the depth and width of BushCo incompetence or duplicity. Those who vocally and publicly opposed invading Iraq were a valiant minority. Obama's words now appear prescient. McCain's lauding of "surge " success is laughable by comparison.

"I'm a "working family" that lives paycheck to paycheck that's going to have my taxes raised if Obama gets elected."
Then you, like myself, apparently make $250,000 or above a year.
I deduct
Thanks for your advice!
