Cutting 18 BILLION DOLLARS in pork spending won't save much???? I think 18 billion dollars in A LOT! He also proposed a freeze in new spending, and cutting other spending.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in one of it's releases.

A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.

Now chilly I think you may be mistaken - are you suuuurrrreee there was a stone age? Didn't God make us in his own image? That would mean that God was a cave man wouldn't it? How exactly does the idea of a stone age mesh with Intelligent Design?

If McCain is so against spending, why didn't he vote yesterday in the Senate when they passed a 634 BILLION dollar spending bill to Bush?

Wow. Those sure are compelling figures.

How 'bout this one:

eighteen billion dollars is less than two weeks in Iraq.

Chew on THAT a little while.

Are you sure you weren't watching the news media run an ad in order to do commentary on it? That's been going on a lot.

McCain was in DC yesterday. He was there, negotiating with people. Doing his job. Obama was on the campaign trail giving speeches.

I know that McCain was negotiating with Republicans to get consensus on the crisis bill at the time the spending bill was passed with only 12 nay votes. I do think he should have gone and voiced his opposition, though, even if fruitless.

Honestly, I think that was a mistake. It passed with only 12 nays, but he should have at least voiced his opposition, even if it would have done no good, imo. Maybe he thought that he was needed more to work on the crisis where he could actually do some good.

I'm not an idiot, so no, it was not the media reporting on an ad or the fact that he wasn't going to run any ads.

McCain was on the telephone dealing with the bailout.

Are you trying to say it's OK to spend 18 Billion dollars on vote buying pork because we are in Iraq? Please explain how this makes sense.
