McCain sure lost the debate

Commentators pointing out how McCain never looked at Obama, seemed to be looking for a fight, kept saying Obama doesn't understand - then Obama looked at McCain, looked at camera and spoke to people at home, and showed McCain over and over that he DOES understand.

The bracelet - loved how Obama retorted "I have my own bracelet",

I realize that the left likes to parse words but you might take notice of the oft repeated "EXCESSIVE" regulations. McCain wants oversight and regulations, but he also sees that over regulation gums up the process, like the walls that Clinton imposed between our intelligence agencies that contributed to 9/11. McCain wants you to be able to use your ATM card in any state you travel to or buy insurance out of state...things you can't'couldn't do with the "over" regulations that were in place. In a real demonstration of McCain's judgment and foresight, he sought additional regulation over Fannie and Freddie in 2005, which might have helped avoid the current financial crisis...but he was blocked by the Democrats.

So you know, Richard Mellon-Sciafe owns the Pittsburgh Tribune Review.

>>> That might have been McCains opinion but I didn't hear Obama resorting to name calling.

What names what Obama going to call McCain..."experienced"..."informed"...?

>>> Obama never even called McCain a liar - he would simply say "that's not true"

Obama would have looked foolish calling McCain a liar when McCain hadn't lied.

>>> Instead of calling Obama naive he could've said "I disagree" it just made him look immature in addition to not being able to look at Obama.

First, the left seems to make a big deal out of McCain not "looking" at Obama...even though a quick peek at the debate will show that Obama spend the VAST majority of the time looking just where McCain was looking...at Leher and the audience. McCain was speaking to America, not Obama, so it was appropriate that he make is case to the people, which he did.

Second, I don't think it was simply a matter of McCain "disagreeing" with Obama on several foreign policy issues. Obama didn't simply have an opposing point of view, Obama's position was, in fact, naive...and as McCain and Kissinger stated..."dangerous." It was entirely appropriate for McCain to point out the character and judgment faults of a candidate seeking the Presidency as well as contradicting him on policy.

>>> IMHO Obama looked more presidential even though neither was able to knock the other out.

IMHO, it looked like a clash of experience and book learning...and McCain's experience of "being there" trumps Obama's flashy smile and rhetoric any day.

Interesting - plus I am beginning to see a real pattern to the patriots posts - they do provide comedy however! Can't wait for this election to be over! How will that change this board?

Here's the link to Fox news where they report that Obama beat McCain in the debate.

I'm sure you won't apologize to the other people on this board for your nastiness, but it sure would be nice.

I am repulsed every time someone mentions that war criminal, Kissinger.

I knew he'd have to throw at least one line in there reminding everyone that he was a POW - I'm sure we'll hear it in the next two also.

>>If Obama is elected it will be another 4 years of NOTHING, because Obama and the Republicans will NEVER agree.<<

Do you think that McCain and the democrats will agree on ANYTHING? Do you think McCain will be more apt to reach out to the left to have a bipartisan 4 years?

Nothing against Pittsburgh, but that's an op-ed piece which is pretty much what we are all doing here on this board.
