McCain sure lost the debate

Commentators pointing out how McCain never looked at Obama, seemed to be looking for a fight, kept saying Obama doesn't understand - then Obama looked at McCain, looked at camera and spoke to people at home, and showed McCain over and over that he DOES understand.

The bracelet - loved how Obama retorted "I have my own bracelet",

That is correct.

Anyone count how many times nobama said "ah" as he was trying to remember his rehearsed answers provided by his advisors since he can't speak based on experience?

Anyone count the number of times the old man clenched his jaw? Anyone count the number of lies the old man told? Anyone count the number or irrelevant stories the old man told?

Frankly, given what Bush and the Republicans have been proposing over the past eight years, I am flat-out THRILLED that Obama has voted with his party consistently.

McCain, on the other hand, has to walk a fine line between going in front of conservative audiences and saying he thinks Bush and his policies are the cat's meow, and going in front of moderate or independent audiences and saying he wants to get away from the failed policies of the last eight years. Especially since - Luddite though he is - he IS aware that there are things called "video cameras" in BOTH audiences, so people will be able to compare his statements to the two groups, LOL.

And it it NOT incorrect to say McCain voted with the President 90% of the time - not at all, in fact. The figure was 90% in 2007, and so far this year has been 100%....though that may be a little misleading, since McCain hasn't actually VOTED since April, including on things like the GI bill and various other important issues facing congress, ranging from national security to financial oversight. People expect Presidential candidates to be a little less present than regular Senators, and this campaign has been one of the longest and most arduous in history....but even by those standards, McCain - Mr. "I'm Very Serious About My Role" - is setting new standards for absenteeism.

I think Obama did a decent job, but I thought that McCain was pretty good.

The numbers are interesting, because I still don't see the 90%

There's really no need to keep looking at your opponent after you've knocked him out. ; ) I think, in almost every exchange, McCain won by looking like a man who actually "lived" his experience rather than just read about it. A world of difference in my view.

Hi all,

New here... my thoughts:

I clearly thought McCain did a better job showing his preparedness for the job. Obama spoke well as usual but couldn't hold a candle to McCain's experience and grasp of numerous past and present situations - it showed and that's very important to me.

I do think Mc started off slow - I really wish he would have hit harder on how we got into this bailout mess. I was thinking O was going to hold his own as he seemed strongest early on. But - McC jumped on offense and O was thrown into defensive mode for much of the debate. That's never good.

Obama said it himself many times: "I agree with Sen McCain" !!! (Me too!!)

I think McCain was calling Obama naive because Obama's positions were naive. He was naive about Georgia, he was naive about Russia, he was naive about Iran and he was just plain wrong about Iraq.

Lived - in the past. Did not appear relevant to the situation we now face.
