Why do you appear to feel that being in a militia is some sort of requirement in order to

FACT: Barack Obama supported a proposal to ban gun stores within 5 miles of a school or park, which would eliminate almost every gun store in America.9

What total baloney! Why not set up gun stores in the schools and parks.

No, I assume Obama's opposition to gun ownership is from his lemming-like agreement with the left that we need to disarm citizens for their own good, because we can't trust them.

The introductory clause of that amendment gives a huge clue about the role for which founding fathers intended gun owners, and their right to keep and bear arms. But there are very few gun-owners, what with our current standing military, who belong to those "well-regulated militia".

And I think it's a hoot when gun owners refuse to acknowledge that clause and their lack of participation in the WRM.

Did it cross your mind, at any point, that assumptions are not facts?

Got proof that Obama is of the "lemming" persuasion? Or do you make that call on the basis of the fact that he doesn't agree with you, just as the person who posted the OP did?

Last but not least, there have been plenty of episodes, accidental and deliberate, where people with guns have killed or maimed innocent bystanders--and unlike the rate of accidents with cars (which the NRA may still be fond of trotting out), guns have no other purpose except to present lethal force. Since governments are formed and supported to protect the common good, any sarcasm about not trusting gun owners, is misplaced.

It stems from the GOOD INTENTIONS of LIBERALS, who during the Carter administration passed the "Community Reinvestment Act" lifting regulations so that banks could more easily lend to minorities. Then put on steroids under Bill Clinton by legislation that actually allowed his administration to SUE banks who did not lend to enough minorities REGARDLESS of their credit worthiness.

Also, BARACK H. OBAMA was the attorney for ACORN which put pressure on banks with lawsuits forcing them to lend to minorities whether they were credit worthy or not.

The militia should be well regulated, and privately owned, privately kept arms are important for the efficiency and effectiveness of that militia.

Actually it's the Democrats who are running like lemmings to side with President Bush in favor of giving up the right to our economic future. The Republicans have tried to stop it.

You are absolutely right, Mark. My dad was a yellow dog Democrat. He has passed away, but he was a lifetime member of the NRA and very much in favor of the second amendment. His sister (my aunt) is still alive and is beginning to finally question if she is still a Democrat because this issue is so important to her. She has lived in the same house for over 50 years and the neighborhood has gone down in that period of time and is not safe. As a 77 year old woman living alone she needs protection - and she's a good shot.
