Bailout being rejected, thoughts?
| Mon, 09-29-2008 - 3:35pm |
Hi –
The bailout being rejected is not a good thing, it affects EVERYONE. Banks have no money, we have no money (generally speaking).
I was speaking with a co-worker that said the Democrats insisted the Parachute Clause be put into the plan otherwise they’d vote against it (keeping Exec’s from these millions of dollars) so that is why the Republican’s majority anyhow rejected it. They are so greedy and now they have cut their nose to spite their face.
Thoughts everyone?

How many pounds of peanuts are consumed in the United States each year?

"We'll be the laughing stock of the world, if we aren't already"
You know, it's funny but a lot of people voted for Bush in 2004 because they thought the world would think us stupid if we elected Kerry. The newspaper headlines the next day around the world proved the opposite was true.
Here, the rest of the world believes in regulation and socialism to a far greater degree than us. They would laugh if we stood by as our financial system went down the toilet. And by the way, the Europeans are the ones who implemented a new bank regulatory system that was a big factor in enabling this crisis through increased leverage.
"I do like that Sarkozy was demanding that those who have led us into this mess pay a price."
People sound bold when they say that - talk is cheap. But don't mistake Sarkozy for the majority view in Europe. He is viewed as more of an upstart, an experiment.
"Okay, now be condescending to me and tell me why the lack of a bailout on Monday is totally the House Republicans fault?"
Huh? I am not condescending to you. I didn't say anything nasty to you like you did to me. All I did is quote an article by one of your own leading conservative pundits. So don't blame me for what he's saying. Write him an email telling him he offends you, I suggest. If you read the quote or the whole article, I think you'll see that Brooks was saying the Republicans provided a lot less support for the bill than the Democrats.
Sheesh, there is a lot of anger and confusion over this issue, which is not surprising.
Oh the ineffectiveness of the written word. I didn't mean you were being condescending to me, I was asking you to be. Make sense? ;-)
I don't care who wrote that article conservative or liberal, I disagree. The vote was not fully supported by Pelosis' Dems and it was she that should never have brought this to a vote without a clear winning vote of the majority party.
This bill wasn't what the American people wanted and it seems that the Republicans and Dems in Congress listened (for once) to their constituents.
"This bill wasn't what the American people wanted and it seems that the Republicans and Dems in Congress listened (for once) to their constituents."
That is
I believe something has to be done too, and no the constituents don't know what's going on or the depth of the economic danger we are in. None of us know the BS that's been goung on behind closed doors for years between certain favored Wall Steet people and Corps and our government. The deceit and lying is sickening.
I am hoping that the extra couple of days will
I am not sure you're correct on that.

Hey B -
CNN reported that Rumors have already started that she is going to be dropped from the ticket if she bombs at the debate and replaced with Mitt Romney.
Jimi Hendrix
Hey - hope that went well. Although I've lived in Los Angeles the past 15 years I'm originally from Seattle. I was at Jimi's grave site just to check it out when I was younger.
Mitt Romney.
