Bailout being rejected, thoughts?
| Mon, 09-29-2008 - 3:35pm |
Hi –
The bailout being rejected is not a good thing, it affects EVERYONE. Banks have no money, we have no money (generally speaking).
I was speaking with a co-worker that said the Democrats insisted the Parachute Clause be put into the plan otherwise they’d vote against it (keeping Exec’s from these millions of dollars) so that is why the Republican’s majority anyhow rejected it. They are so greedy and now they have cut their nose to spite their face.
Thoughts everyone?

How many pounds of peanuts are consumed in the United States each year?
2.4 billion pounds! About 50% is consumed as peanut butter.

Hey do you think you could stop signing "SP"? Maybe you could go with "Sm P".
I think someone might get you confused you with a moose hunter :-)

LOL, hey I've been going with SP for years on the other boards, Sarah Palin can take a back seat, ha!
Small Peanut!
Hey sP! Thanks for your newsy response to mine! Man...I had a few responses to write back to, as I posted on the Gwen Ifill thread, earlier today! It certainly is interesting to get to know the other participants on this board. I haven't had any time to go through old postings, so I really don't know much about any one here (except for you!), but can glean a lot from the tone of their postings - lol! On the other bds I go on, everyone fills in something in their profile. What's wrong w/the folks here -- not willing share details about themselves?!
Thanks for the link to the thread w/the pic. You are beautiful! -- just a 'youngster' in my book! I just know you'll make a gorgeous bride!! For you, I wouldn't anticipate having problems conceiving -- just let the 'universe' take care of things! You can just take the best care of yourself, maybe do some yoga & meditation to 'focus' on your 'intentions.' But I appreciate that what you're saying is 'if it's meant to be, it'll happen.' You just want to be aware of all the risks, but I think that if you & your partner are in good health, there hopefully won't be any issues to be concerned with by conceiving later in life.
My health is much better now -- I definitely have to make it a point to take care of myself in terms of sleep, food, managing stress, etc. I also do NIA -- don't know if you're familiar with it -- it's a low-aerobic, cardio dance regimen that incorporate the dance arts, martial arts & healing arts. It is my best outlet for stress & everything else, aside from a great workout! Interesting that you mentioned 'life is too short...' -- that is exactly the mantra I followed in deciding to end my marriage -- to me, life is too short not to be happy!
It's cool that your iVillage group gets together sometimes -- it looks like a very friendly bunch! On the other boards where I post -- we're all just 'virtual' friends.
As for the VP debate, we'll see who fares better tonight!
take care, hB
Well, butting in on your conversation, but I went and looked at the photo.
Hey Bunny –
Final countdown.
Aren't you too kind - thank you!
Hey sP! Hope you're feeling better -- now that it's Oct., I'll have to think about getting flu shots for me & the kids. Is the weather changing out there -- ie. feeling autumny? It's slowly cooling down here -- we've had some rain on & off over the past week. It was sunny today, though.
Actually I am a fan of 'The View' - but I've been so glued to CNBC that I've taken a break from watching 'The View' for past couple of wks. I read that Elisabeth H. might leave the show b/c she's so upset about being challenged on all her views. I really enjoy Whoopi & Joy, and really respect Barbara & her illustrious career. I'm not too keen on Sherri, as she is often caught uninformed, and well, you know Elisabeth!
I saw the Katie/Sarah bit on 'what newspapers/magazines do you read?' query. I think she:
a)'blanked out'; b)was afraid to admit that she doesn't really read, on her own; c)doesn't read any relevant 'serious' media; d)has her staff 'pre-select' what she reads.
I get regular therapeutic massages & accupuncture. It's all about moving energy!
Will try to write again after the debate!
later, hB
Hola again...
Thanks. Eh feeling okay, have a feeling its a full blown cold as now I have the froggy voice kicking in :P
Here’s my thoughts on the debate tonight.
Joe Biden seemed much more real. Joe Biden answered the questions, stayed on point, did not speak in hyperbole. These two may have similar middle class backgrounds, but Joe seems a man of conviction, she seems well rehearsed.
Sarah’s folksy speak may woo people who have no idea about issues, but it was actually used as a distraction tactic to avoid showing how little she knows substantively. She didn’t answer the questions numerous times and instead used canned memorized answers. Joe added nuances to his answers. You could tell these are not her
Hi SP! I actually posted a response to the other thread 'Talk Back...' -- but I agree w/all the points you made. I just finished reading a response back from Alicia on the 'Gwen Ifill' thread -- man, she is just over the top -- I can't even think of how to respond back to her -- she has such a sarcastic tone that I don't think needs any response!
My thoughts exactly re: 'maverick' -- I can't wait to see what Jon Stewart, SNL & the rest of the comedians say about that!
As I said in my post on the other thread -- SP does not even have a clear understanding of what the 'job' responsibilities of VP of the US actually are! It's appalling!
Biden really came across as being very much under control -- a good thing! That way the focus was kept on the substance of his points, not on the delivery.
Anyway, it'll be interesting to get the run-down in the morning from the various media outlets!
Hope you get lots of rest & feel better in the morning!
aloha, HB
