Bailout being rejected, thoughts?

Hi –

The bailout being rejected is not a good thing, it affects EVERYONE.  Banks have no money, we have no money (generally speaking).

I was speaking with a co-worker that said the Democrats insisted the Parachute Clause be put into the plan otherwise they’d vote against it (keeping Exec’s from these millions of dollars) so that is why the Republican’s majority anyhow rejected it.  They are so greedy and now they have cut their nose to spite their face.

Thoughts everyone?

How many pounds of peanuts are consumed in the United States each year?

2.4 billion pounds! About 50% is consumed as peanut butter.

Not good. And 700 off the Dow sorta reflects this. What scares me is where Congress is at the moment. What if the market tanks again tomorrow, and then Wednesday? Lets say it sheds 2000 points today through Wednesday.

Bad time to be breaking.

I didn’t say all foreclosures, I did say “some” for example my friend down the street is about to go in foreclosure if he can’t make his mortgage payment if his company doesn’t get a second round of financing– he’s going under as well as his company. You do understand this right?

Yeah, exactly. That is why I'm surprised they rejected this - at least we had a shot, now, the worst is yet to come sooner rather than later.

You are confused, the Republican majority did not vote against this bill...The MINORITY did. meaning that if the Democratic party wanted this bill they could have passed it because they are the MAJORITY in BOTH the House and Senate.

You seem to want to blame the Republicans when in fact if the Democrats wanted this bill to pass, it would have passed because they have the majority.

So, am I to surmize that what you find attractive is that if your neighbor will get financing for his company he won't have his home foreclosed on as well as other in start ups?

oh, I read correctly regarding your confusion, I was just agreeing with you. You are confused as to who was responsible for not passing the bill and who is the majority and minority parties in congress.

I could be wrong, but I thought the "Parachute Clause" is a good thing for executives.
