Platts said in a news release the bill would have put taxpayer money on the hook to bail out reckless actions of Wall Street and irresponsible lenders without giving any certainty it would fix underlying problems.

Platts said alternative bills -- and not just a rewritten versions of the original bailout proposal -- should get a chance for a house vote.

Platts said the bill that did get to a vote, and was defeated, was too close to the original proposal that put too much taxpayer money at risk and raised the limit on the federal government's debt. >


I wish his office would release stats on how many calls and emails he received from people telling him what they thought about the bail out.

Exactly it was an investment scheme, not insured, be a big kid and deal with your loss.
