Hi everyone --

We wanted to get your reaction to the Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. Did you watch? What did you think -- and who do you consider the winner? Were there any surprises? Tell us what you considered to be the highlights, the low points and everything in between.

Please note: This discussion will be featured on our homepage as well as our Election 2008 feature page (http://www.ivillage.com/0,,dkrjhqbk,00.html) and may elicit some "Guest" responses from our "Talkback" box tool on the page. Inappropriate responses that violate our Terms of Service will be removed.

Thanks for your input!

I'm not going to discuss this with you since you obviously aren't listening to what I said.

"Fundamental" too many times? Did you even COUNT how many times Palin said "also?" Honestly, I think she said it more than "McCain."

Google the text of the debate, and search on "fundamental," then go back to the top and search on "also."

I prefer people speaking to a large audience to speak using standard English. There is a time and a place for being folksy and I don't think that a debate is one of them, nor is the time and place when speaking to leaders of other nations. I don't want someone "folksy" representing us on the world stage.

Exactly.

Sitting around the Pizza Hut with the other hockey moms after a game is the place for "folksy" language, not during your one and only chance to have a debate with the opposing candidate for the second-highest office in the nation. Yakking in the narthex after worship service on Sunday at the Wasilla Bible Church is the place for "folksy" speech, not during a debate for the Vice-Presidency of the United States.

Haven't we had enough of a leader who "charmed" us with his "folksy" speech patterns and "have-a-beer-with-ability" (despite the fact that he's a teetotalling alcoholic, LOL)? And, fer Chrissaskes, have we not had MORE than enough, after eight freaking years, of someone who pronounces the freaking word "nook-yoo-lar?"

yup - as in most all debates notes are taken while the other person speaks for rebuttal purposes.

lackluster performance by the VP candidates of the up coming election. Again I think the democrats pulled it off. Joe Biden in my estimation is the winner, if in fact there was any true winner. My issue with Sarah Palin is that she seldom answered the questions posed to her, and the strategically placed slang words, to make her seem more like an ordinary person became annoying quickly. Also the painted on smile when she did answer any question became exasperating, especially to the folks at home looking, we the voters are very worried about the state of affairs, so that permanent grin on Sarah’s face relayed the message that she is not totally aware of gravity of the issues the voters are facing. Again Sarah proved that there is little substance to her glib rhetoric.
