Hi everyone --

We wanted to get your reaction to the Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. Did you watch? What did you think -- and who do you consider the winner? Were there any surprises? Tell us what you considered to be the highlights, the low points and everything in between.

Please note: This discussion will be featured on our homepage as well as our Election 2008 feature page (http://www.ivillage.com/0,,dkrjhqbk,00.html) and may elicit some "Guest" responses from our "Talkback" box tool on the page. Inappropriate responses that violate our Terms of Service will be removed.

Thanks for your input!

I think Biden came off as qualified. Palin not so much. One moment that I laughed out loud on was when Palin played her "poor woman" card of being a single mom, blah, blah, blah. And Biden came right back, being a single parent himself, and knowing what that meant. BRAVO, Biden! I was pleasantly surprised Palin didn't act like an ignorant ninny nor did she act like McCain, and disrespect and try to make fun of, her opponent in the debate. At least, as a woman, I wasn't totally ashamed of her. The fact that she avoided any substantive answers to questions wasn't surprising. She could only be "primed" for the debate so far, after all, given her level of ignorance and experience. No matter how much she played her being part of everyday lives and people, and a woman and mother, "soccer mom" to boot, and paraded around with her baby in her arms, she still came off as not qualified, IMO. She was well drilled by her party, to push McCain. Which was really all she could accomplish, since she couldn't answer any of the real questions in any other way but parroting how great McCain was (NOT! LOL!). She's a big nothing as a potential VP, got showcased as the "woman" and how oh-so-wonderful the Republicans are for thinking of that angle (ho hum), so now on to the debates that really matter... JMO. ;))

Maybe it's just me, but I get the idea that SHE is running for President (maybe McCain WON'T make four years and she knows it!).

One of the things she said that I found interesting is that "people want new and fresh" in the White House... I would hardly call McCain either new OR fresh...

Biden. Showed his qualifications and was actually charming and patient. Palin showed that she could parrot the party line but is not qualified to answer the hard questions at all. So she avoided them, LOL! No thanks!

((I think she is strong, but one need to know certain issues, or be aware of certain matters, which she clearly is not. ))

How strong can Palin be if she can not handle a few "fluffy" interviews? lol. She lied about liking to answer the tough questions, because she has yet to answer the easy questions as if she knows what she is talking about.

Now, she'll regress and "talk directly to the American people" using canned speeches, written by other people, that she reads verbatim. That lack of flexibility and on your feet thinking is Bush43 all over again. 8 yrs was enough, and based on their lack of a platform and poor performances, McCain/Palin will be 4 more horrible years.

I thought both candidates did very well, Biden knows his stuff but Palin brings a certain something to the race that no one has brought before. I am not voting based only on the VP candidates, my vote still sides with McCain no matter how the debates turn out.

Hello Everyone!

Sarah Palin is totally out of her league. She doesn't understand, she just knows how to look into a camera and confuse the original question with too much talking.

I think Palin made a serious mistake with regard to the powers granted to the VP in the U.S. Constitution.
