Hi everyone --

We wanted to get your reaction to the Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. Did you watch? What did you think -- and who do you consider the winner? Were there any surprises? Tell us what you considered to be the highlights, the low points and everything in between.

Please note: This discussion will be featured on our homepage as well as our Election 2008 feature page (http://www.ivillage.com/0,,dkrjhqbk,00.html) and may elicit some "Guest" responses from our "Talkback" box tool on the page. Inappropriate responses that violate our Terms of Service will be removed.

Thanks for your input!

Through prayer and with great love in my heart, and with my mind set upon our shared American futures, my belief is that USA Senator John McCain and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin shall lead us
very well, indeed.
Governor Sarah Palin shall be a wonderful USA Vice President, and with Senator John McCain as our new 2008 USA President, our nation shall be in the best of hands. Support our American leaders.
Join me, in prayer for our nations future ...

Thanks for the info and link. I am hard of hearing and depend on closed captioning to watch video and TV. I must have misunderstood and misread. Thanks again for providing the transcript. :) That still does not excuse her behavior when Biden reminded her he was also a parent, with tragic losses, a single parent to boot. I think she was playing the "I'm a mother and woman" card a la the 50s, and it really irked and insulted me. JMO.

BIDEN: "Look, I understand what it's like to be a single parent. When my wife and daughter died and my two sons were gravely injured, I understand what it's like as a parent to wonder what it's like if your kid's going to make it.

I understand what it's like to sit around the kitchen table with a father who says, "I've got to leave, champ, because there's no jobs here. I got to head down to Wilmington. And when we get enough money, honey, we'll bring you down."

I understand what it's like. I'm much better off than almost all Americans now. I get a good salary with the United States Senate. I live in a beautiful house that's my total investment that I have. So I -- I am much better off now.

But the notion that somehow, because I'm a man, I don't know what it's like to raise two kids alone, I don't know what it's like to have a child you're not sure is going to -- is going to make it -- I understand.

I understand, as well as, with all due respect, the governor or anybody else, what it's like for those people sitting around that kitchen table. And guess what? They're looking for help. They're looking for help. They're not looking for more of the same."

She began with "Being a mom, like that was some holy mission that eclipsed fathers. She's there to pull in the women's vote anyway, right? Not happening with this woman, though. :O I still feel that the intent was to demonstrate Biden too far from the "regular" American, and their deep concerns, and I was impressed how he handled that foray. :) And my fully hearing family members go the same message I did...

Blessings,

Gypsy
