Hi everyone --

We wanted to get your reaction to the Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. Did you watch? What did you think -- and who do you consider the winner? Were there any surprises? Tell us what you considered to be the highlights, the low points and everything in between.

Please note: This discussion will be featured on our homepage as well as our Election 2008 feature page (http://www.ivillage.com/0,,dkrjhqbk,00.html) and may elicit some "Guest" responses from our "Talkback" box tool on the page. Inappropriate responses that violate our Terms of Service will be removed.

Thanks for your input!

Joe Biden won this debate hands down. Sarah Palin didn't do as poorly as I think many were expecting, but it's clear that she was drilled and it was clear when she didn't know how to answer a question... she just didn't. I feel insulted as a "regular person." All the winks and folksy terms didn't strike any cords with me. I don't think that she really knows who "regular" people are. I'm not stupid. You can be a "regular person" and speak intelligently. I can imagine the rest of the world laughing at us if we elect this woman as second in command of our country.

It is my understanding that the VP candidates were not allowed notecards but, rather, were allowed to make notes when they reached the podium.

I think Palin won b/c she distinguished herself from the old school politics that, frankly, I am sick of. I think the populist outrage against the existing Congress is real and separating herself from those politicians and that type of politics, that is costing us all so much money, was key for her... and maybe for the McCain campaign.

I'm embarrassed to say, I do not know what that means. (Maybe that's why SP does NOT appeal to me.) I'll take a guess and say it's the guy who sits in front of the TV watching football on Sunday afternoons with a six pack of beer in front of him.

Is that right?

She didn't need to know the questions to be rehearsed.

>>> she may have "won", but she ain't the one running for president.

LOL! It's funny how quickly the left goes from attacking and smearing Palin who's "one breath away from the Presidency" to "she may have "won", but she ain't the one running for president." The irony...and hypocrisy...is staggering.

Not you specifically, of course...welcome aboard.

Biden was better.

Palin was not as awful as I thought she would be.

What I wrote HBunny on another thread:

Here’s my thoughts on the debate tonight.

Joe Biden seemed much more real. Joe Biden answered the questions, stayed on point, did not speak in hyperbole. These two may have similar middle class backgrounds, but Joe seems a man of conviction, she seems well rehearsed.

Sarah’s folksy speak may woo people who have no idea about issues, but it was actually used as a distraction tactic to avoid showing how little she knows substantively. She didn’t answer the questions numerous times and instead used canned memorized answers. Joe added nuances to his answers. You could tell these are not her
