Hi everyone --
We wanted to get your reaction to the Vice Presidential debate between Senator Joe Biden and Governor Sarah Palin. Did you watch? What did you think -- and who do you consider the winner? Were there any surprises? Tell us what you considered to be the highlights, the low points and everything in between.
Please note: This discussion will be featured on our homepage as well as our Election 2008 feature page (http://www.ivillage.com/0,,dkrjhqbk,00.html) and may elicit some "Guest" responses from our "Talkback" box tool on the page. he doesn't get as much sympathy?
for an accident that killed
wow, that's harsh.
I have sympathy for all involved.
About as harsh as the "screaming" caps that said Biden lied, lied in writing about the death of his wife and child; when, of course, even reading the poster's own article, he did not.
Well, you are to be commended for your "sympathy," especially being so removed from any partisan leanings and just leading with your heart.
I do sympathize with the guy who killed Biden's family because if he was human, it must have bothered him to have been the cause.
** They have notes, sure (all of them). And they are taking notes throughout the debate too if you've noticed. I assure you, Palin isn't the only one. They all read from their notes, and take notes. And of course she had limited responses... limited to the questions she was asked and the time alloted to answer. **
I know they all have notes - I was on the debate team in high school - my point was this: it appeared to me that she had written down her talking points - perhaps so she wouldn't forget them - and kept referring to the same points over and over and over again. Yes she had limited responses - but not limited to time - she stated up front she wasn't going to answer the questions and she kept her word. Not how we won debates in high school - or anywhere else. In fact most of her nonanswers had only a tenuous connection to the question asked at best.
