DD#1: "Mom, she blinks a lot"

Watching the debate tonight, my DD (who is 12) said that Governor Palin was annoying. I was listening while grading papers, and said, "No she isn't."

BRE responded, "She says ya instead of you." I made some remark about regional dialect differences. Then she said, "And she blinks too much." I said, "No, she doesn't, Senator Biden blinks too."

Didn't the little brat count them on 2 different questions.

Yep....Palin: 55 and 52 blinks per minute; Biden: 34 and 32 blinks per minute.

(Hi all- this school year is NUTS- miss you all)

I didn't notice the blinking, just the winking. I get creeped out with men who wink. Never knew a woman who did that.

But, as I mentioned in the "how did they do?" thread, the one thing I'm unsure about after watching the debate is whether or not she, and John McCain, are mavericks. That is just SOOOOOO important, you know?

Teeeheeee,

I guess my immaturity is showing: after the 20th "ya", "betcha" and "darn" I was ready to start clog dancing to the rythm of her rapid fire blinking. She's Rose nylund from the Golden Girls without the charm.

Children, when not confused by parents that contradict EVERY statement that they make, are very good truth meters. When left to their own curiosity and opinions, they don't filter out the ridiculous, the way adults do. They just call that ridiculousness as they see it. Thank goodness. From the mouths of babes...

I miss the interaction, but am having enough trouble keeping head above water with students and own personal children. Next week we go to a rheumatologist to find out if BRE has lupus.

Yes, she did, because they hairsprayed her bangs onto her left eyelash.

I'm guessing your 11 year old goes to public school; public schools are teaching this, actullay stuffing this down children's throats, without teaching the other side.

I'm not too bothered by the blinking. But for next debate with Obama and McCain, have your daughter count the number of uhs by Obama. Like this:
