Is there anything for the citizens who don't want to become socialists to do.  What should I be doing? I don't want our country on that path and it seems it is.

I know, right?

'Cause instituting massive domestic surveillance programs without disclosing them to the public or congress or the FISA courts isn't "big Orwellian-style government." Like buying an 80% equity stock in the world's largest insurance company to keep it from going belly-up isn't "big, Orwellian-style government." Like running up several trillion dollars in debt isn't "big, Orwellian-style government." Like....aw, hell, I could go on, but you get the point.

Hey, you're RIGHT! Those are some of the freest markets on EARTH right now! It's every man for himself! Man, glibertarians should be absolutely lining UP to get into that country!

Or, perhaps, it's the thought of having to run the gauntlet of freaking PIRATES that's keeping the "Chee-Tos-And-Ayn-Rand" crowd away, LOL.

Yes, the last 8 years have been disastrous.

>"A lone voice of dissent in the 2004 proceeding came from a software consultant from Valparaiso, Ind., who said the computer models run by the firms — which the regulators would be relying on — could not anticipate moments of severe market turbulence."<

Obviously not one of the old boys.... Wrong school, wrong clubs?

>"a measurement of how much the firm was borrowing compared to its total assets — rose sharply, to 33 to 1. In other words, for every dollar in equity, it had $33 of debt."<

I heard a program on NPR about some of this.
