File this one under "ewwwwww":
Now, I know what you're thinking: you're thinking "c'mon, p_in_c, this isn't really fair - Rich Lowry?" And up to a point, I have to agree. Lowry works for (and this was posted on) National Review's "The Corner" web site. And NRO has long held the un-official moniker of "America's Sh*ttiest Web siteâ„¢," meaning that such drivel really should surprise none of us all that much, when it appears in one of the stupider arms of the current conservative movement. I get it; you're right....mostly. But even by NRO's notably low standards, this post is laugh-out-loud (and then go-take-a-shower) funny. When was the last time you essentially heard a pundit admit that he spent debate night with his pen in one hand and, ah, his sword in the other (and no wisecracks about which is mightier, please, LOL)?
And if it stopped there, I'd file this in my bursting-at-the-seams "creepy wingnut behavior" file, enjoy a wry inward chuckle after reflecting that the invisible hand of Charles Darwin is obviously not nearly done with its work, and move on.
But then I read this:

I guess the ol' spinmeisters in the McCain war room knew what they'd be using to appeal to people like Rich "Raincoat" Lowry, eh?
Projecting through the Screen
A very wise TV executive once told me that the key to TV is projecting through the screen. It's one of the keys to the success of, say, a Bill O'Reilly, who comes through the screen and grabs you by the throat. Palin too projects through the screen like crazy. I'm sure I'm not the only male in America who, when Palin dropped her first wink, sat up a little straighter on the couch and said, "Hey, I think she just winked at me." And her smile. By the end, when she clearly knew she was doing well, it was so sparkling it was almost mesmerizing. It sent little starbursts through the screen and ricocheting around the living rooms of America. This is a quality that can't be learned; it's either something you have or you don't, and man, she's got it.

The GOP sure knows its base, you gotta hand it to them. A little digging by Govgap.com reveals that www.votefortheMILF.com links directly back to JohnMcCain.com, then on to Sarah Palin’s page and a video message.
Govgap.com:
- URL Registered within ~36 hours of McCain’s Decision to select Palin as running mate
- Redirect sends users specifically to a palin.htm file, but only on the FIRST redirect
- Whois Privacy Information Matches JohnMcCain.com Whois Privacy
- URL Held by same registrar
- Note that the .net and .org versions also redirect to the McCain Campaign Website.
Network Tools.com Trace Route:- 64.203.107.149 (VoteForTheMILF.com)
- 64.203.107.149 (JohnMcCain.com)

Olbermann had a very funny bit on this right wing perv:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#27015683
Yeah, I saw that bit - Bill Maher did a little bit on it, too....but I'd not seen the astonishing news that the McCain campaign had registered http://www.voteforthemilf.com, and that whois searches produce the same IP addresses for the registrants of both domains - and that a redirect from that site address redirected first to John McCain's web site, and then to a specific sub-page which includes a "welcome" message from Mrs. Palin.
That's even creepier (if possible) than Lowry's Kleenex-clutching ode to Palin.
Unbelievable. John McCain's campaign is asleep at the wheel.
