Palin: "Obama palling with terrorists"

I just heard Palin say that Obama has such disdain for his country that "he is palling around with terrorists"

Well, I guess we now get to see where the nickname "Barricuda" comes from. I am not surprised that this comes from the book banning, moose shooting, VP candidate, who believes that being close to Russia makes her a foreign policy expert.

I am however disappointed at McCain. He promised that he would not go to the gutter. He said that as a victim of Rove's tactics in 2000, he's against the politics of personal destruction. So much for the aisle crossing maverick. I guess when you start tanking in the polls, you pal around with Rove.

I'm just wondering - I looked up Bill Ayers on the internet and it seems to me that he is a 63yr old professor who lives in Obama's neighborhood. Yes, they have met at some functions but I don't think any formal relationship has been proved (at least by the latest article in the NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/politics/04ayers.html?pagewanted=2&_r=2&ref=politics

I do understand that he was a 60's radical (I don't condone bombing but he did protest the Viet Nam war and protest at a pizza place for not seating African-Americans in 1965) but just because Obama knows him now (after the fact as BO was born in 1961) I just don't see how this is relevant.

I worked at a company for 13yrs and there was a member of the Weather Underground there for about 5 years in the IT dept. Needless to say, our paths crossed often and all I can say is thank God I'm not running for any office.

Rev Wright is an abomination that I am not happy with but you have to take the good with the bad as we all have acquaintances that we meet everyday and only God knows what they are doing behind closed doors. I am from Boston and can tell you that raping, molesting Catholic priests were in the newspaper everyday for YEARS. So, again, the Rev might not be the most upstanding citizen in his area but I think I've seen worse.

Well that would certainly make sense - otherwise I was getting totally confused!

Hasn't Ayers left that past behind? Does he now lead a productive life? Was he ever jailed for violence? I am sure there are many people who protested to varying degrees in the 60s but I wonder if that is really relevant in 2008. I remember when it was a BIG thing that Clinton had smoked pot in college - I think you might be hard pressed to find a candidate now who hadn't tried something in college now. People do grow up and change so I just wonder exactly how relevant this man's past is if he is currently a productive citizen.

You said that you were responding to the claims of a poster with your sarcasm, but the only claim the poster made was accurate. That is all I am saying.

Even the candidates have made kids "off limits". Maybe we should do the same here.
