In the thread entitled when the Democrats lie, there's a link to the Washington Post.

Oh, and you can't GET on the Democratic ticket unless you are an EXTREME leftist, because only the extremists vote in the Democratic primaries - and they vote for EXTREMISTS and in the case of Obama an EXTREMIST RADICAL.

Some of the Republican primaries are open to Independents and even Democrats, therefore the candidates tend to be more middle of the road. That's the main reason Democrats have so much trouble winning the presidency.

If a dope is asking a dopy question, that person should well expect a dopy answer.

Huh? Are you serious? The primaries aren't determined to be "open" or "closed" based upon PARTY, but upon STATE. If a state has voted for "open primaries," the primaries are just that....open. Since Republicans and Democrats - in most states - vote on the same day, that means in states with open primaries, any legally registered voter can walk into their local polling place and ask for any ballot they choose (if they even have separate ballots for the parties), and can punch the ticket for whomever they want. By definition, that makes the Democratic primary as open - or as closed - as the Republican one.

For crying out loud, she sounded dopey on Sean Hannity's program.

What's amazing is not how little about vast swaths of how the government functions ("I don't know what the VP does"), or about the rest of the world, or in fact many other topics, it's that creepy and repugnant combination of completely confident, largely ignorant, and wrong which we learned with good reason to fear and revile in George W. Bush. Whoever said that Palin is Bush in a skirt was right on the money. The thing that really drops my jaw is that the Republicans doubled-down on this strategy, WHILE BUSH IS STILL PRESIDENT (and therefore still very fresh in everyone's mind, as his continuing abysmal poll numbers demonstrate). It's not as if we've suddenly all forgotten about George Bush and his smarmy certainty that he knew, "in his gut," what was best for the country. We haven't. Even most of the independents and a fair number of non-dead-ender Republicans haven't forgotten. And yet they (I hear it was Steve Schmidt, actually) have just tossed out a near-carbon-copy of that aspect of Bush's persona, for our consumption, in the form of Sarah Mooseburger. Gotta admit, it's either one of the boldest - or one of the stupidest - moves I've ever seen in politics, possibly both: "hey, are you liking this cowboy attitude that's possibly among the worst things that's ever happened to our country? No? Well here....have another big ol' helping of the same thing." Definitely gotta admit it takes stones to do that. Both the usual kind, and possibly stones in the head, too.

Gov. Palin took care of your dopey perception, when she told Gwen Ifil,

I support her because she actually RETURNED money to the people of Alaska. Fair enough. Can I assume from that criteria that you would agree with her if she was on the opposite side of the fence?

As for the rest of your note - it's a 2 week old e-mail with a major math error in it! :)
