I am sick of hearing McCain and Sarah lie over and over, without consequences. I am going to work harder to make sure these clowns don't get elected.

Fact Check: Is Obama 'palling around with terrorists'?
Posted: 09:00 AM ET
Gov. Palin commented about Sen. Obama and William Ayers at a rally in Carson, California Saturday.
The Statement: Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin said Saturday, October 4, that Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama is "someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."
Watch: Is Obama a terrorist's pal?
Get the facts!
The Facts: In making the charge at a fund-raising event in Englewood, Colorado, and a rally in Carson, California, Palin was referring at least in part to William Ayers, a 1960s radical. In both appearances, Palin cited a front-page article in Saturday's New York Times detailing the working relationship between Obama and Ayers.
In the 1960s, Ayers was a founding member of the radical Weather Underground group that carried out a string of bombings of federal buildings, including the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol, in protest against the Vietnam War. The now-defunct group was labeled a "domestic terrorist group" by the FBI, and Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn — also a Weather Underground member — spent 10 years as fugitives in the 1970s. Federal charges against them were dropped due to FBI misconduct in gathering evidence against them, and they resurfaced in 1980. Both Ayers and Dohrn ultimately became university professors in Chicago, with Ayers, 63, now an education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Obama's Chicago home is in the same neighborhood where Ayers and Dohrn live. Beginning in 1995, Ayers and Obama worked with the non-profit Chicago Annenberg Challenge on a huge school improvement project. The Annenberg Challenge was for cities to compete for $50 million grants to improve public education. Ayers fought to bring the grant to Chicago, and Obama was recruited onto the board. Also from 1999 through 2001 both were board members on the Woods Fund, a charitable foundation that gave money to various causes, including the Trinity United Church that Obama attended and Northwestern University Law Schools' Children and Family Justice Center, where Dohrn worked.
CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything inappropriate in the volunteer projects in which the two men were involved.
Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt told CNN that after meeting Obama through the Annenberg project, Ayers hosted a campaign event for him that same year when then-Illinois state Sen. Alice Palmer, who planned to run for Congress, introduced the young community organizer as her chosen successor. LaBolt also said the two have not spoken by phone or exchanged e-mail messages since Obama came to the U.S. Senate in 2005 and last met more than a year ago when they encountered each other on the street in their Hyde Park neighborhood.
The extent of Obama's relationship with Ayers came up during the Democratic presidential primaries earlier this year, and Obama explained it by saying, "This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood … the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago — when I was 8 years old — somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense."
The McCain campaign did not respond Saturday to a request for elaboration on Palin's use of the plural "terrorists."

Verdict: FALSE. There is no indication that Ayers and Obama are now "palling around," or that they have had an ongoing relationship in the past three years. Also, there is nothing to suggest that Ayers is now involved in terrorist activity or that other Obama associates are.

Fact Check: Did Afghan general say 'surge principle' won't work?
Posted: 07:00 AM ET
Sen. Joe Biden said the 'commanding general in Afghanistan said the surge principle won't work in Afghanistan.'
The Statement:
Sen. Joe Biden said at the Oct. 2 vice presidential debate that "our commanding general in Afghanistan said the surge principle in Iraq will not work in Afghanistan."
Get the facts!
The Facts:
Gov. Sarah Palin, who lauded the successes of the "surge strategy" in Iraq, asserted in the debate that "the surge principles, not the exact strategy, but the surge principles that have worked in Iraq need to be implemented in Afghanistan."
But Sen. Joe Biden disagreed, saying "our commanding general in Afghanistan said the surge principle in Iraq will not work in Afghanistan. … He said we need more troops. We need government-building. We need to spend more money on the infrastructure in Afghanistan."
Gen. David McKiernan, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, was quoted on Oct. 2 in The Washington Post as saying that "no Iraq-style 'surge' of forces will end the conflict" in Afghanistan, even though more U.S. troops are needed to take on a growing insurgency.
"Afghanistan is not Iraq," McKiernan said in Washington on Oct. 1. He also said "the word I don't use for Afghanistan is 'surge.' " He called for a "sustained commitment" leading to a political and not just a military solution.
He said Afghanistan is a "far more complex environment than I ever found in Iraq." The newspaper paraphrased him as citing the country's "unique challenges" — "the mountainous terrain, rural population, poverty, illiteracy, 400 major tribal networks and history of civil war."

The Verdict: True.

Palin makes Obama terrorist claim
Sarah Palin accuses Obama of associating with 'a domestic terrorist'
US Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin has accused the Democratic presidential candidate, Barack Obama, of associating with terrorists.
She said he had been "palling around" with an ex-member of US-based militant group Weather Underground, which opposed the Vietnam War in the 1960s.
Mr Obama once served on a charity board with a member of the group, but he has denounced its activities.
A Democratic spokesman accused the Republicans of gutter politics.
"What's clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy," Hari Sevugan said.
Commentators say Mrs Palin's attack forms part of a broader Republican strategy to attack Mr Obama's character.
Denunciation
Speaking to supporters in Colorado and later in a Los Angeles suburb, Alaska Governor Palin said the time had come to take the gloves off.
The White House candidates face their second debate on Tuesday
Quoting a New York Times article, she attacked Senator Obama over his link to Bill Ayers, a founder of the Weather Underground, which waged a violent campaign against the Vietnam War.
The group was blamed for a number of bombings in the US in the 1960s.
Mrs Palin described Mr Obama as someone who saw the US "as being so imperfect... he is palling around with terrorists who would target their own country".
Mr Obama served on a charity board several years ago with Mr Ayers, who is now a professor at the University of Illinois.
The White House hopeful, who was a child when Weather Underground was active, has denounced Mr Ayers' radical past.
Focus on healthcare
The Alaska governor also said she wished the McCain campaign had not this week pulled out of the battleground state of Michigan, effectively conceding it to the Democrats.
Mr Obama meanwhile attacked the healthcare plans of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
Speaking to some 18,000 people at a rally in Virginia, Senator Obama described the Arizona senator's policy as "radical" and claimed 20 million people would be left out by it.
((((HAVE YOUR SAY I'm a McCain supporter, but Palin really needs to fire the person who told her to say that
J Young, USA
Send us your comments))))
A spokesman for Mr McCain, who is in his home state preparing for Tuesday's second presidential debate, said that was "a bald-faced lie".
Healthcare is important to voters and the Obama campaign has unveiled new adverts attacking Mr McCain on the issue in every battleground state.
Mr Obama's Virginia rally came ahead of a Monday deadline for voters to register there and in more than a dozen other states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Florida.
Voter turnout could be vital in deciding the outcome of the 4 November presidential election.
Meanwhile, viewing figures show a record 69.9 million people tuned in to watch Mrs Palin take part in Thursday's televised vice-presidential debate with Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
Perhaps it would be more honest if Obama had said:
This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood in whose living room I launched my political career, with whom I sit on boards and to whose groups I have channeled a lot of government money whose book I have endorsed, and who as recently as a year ago had his picture stomping on an American flag, and who on Sept 11, 2001 went on record saying that their bombings and murders didn't go far enough… the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago — when I was 8 years old — somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense."
Sarah Palin accuses Obama of associating with 'a domestic terrorist'
Well, let's see...
Ayers was a founder of the Weather Underground, a terrorist organization that blew up bombs, robbed banks and killed policemen.
Mr Obama once served on a charity board with a member of the group, but he has denounced its activities.
YEP...This is the man that Obama allowed to help launch his campaign!
I remember when I was in high school a classmate's father was on the verge of getting caught for embezzlement.
(((in whose living room I launched my political career, with whom I sit on boards and to whose groups I have channeled a lot of government money whose book I have endorsed, and who as recently as a year ago had his picture stomping on an American flag, and who on Sept 11, 2001 went on record saying that their bombings and murders didn't go far enough…)))
What Ayers did in his past is deplorable, and it's great that he went to trial for it. Don't direct the anger at Obama that Ayers went free and that the justice system CLEARED Ayers. Also, your argument is flawed. Obama's career had already BEEN launched, that is why he was brought to the attention of Ayers, now an educator in his community, in the first place.
Now, Obama was EIGHT years old when Ayers committed these crimes, and later learned this AFTER "meet the candidate" in Ayers' home took place. Did Obama spend vast amounts of time in Ayers home? NO. I resent McCain and Palin for being cowards and lying about Obama's life and record.
Obama's record is clear. The lying McCain and Palin can not make that claim. Obama is active in his community - he will and has met all kinds of people. It is wonderful that Obama's passion for education results in him serving on community and university boards. However, he is not responsible for what the university and local organizations rules are about allowing exonerated people like Ayers to serve on those boards. Perhaps they believe in redemption and don't give it lip service like some people do.
Then, there is the fact that Ayers turned himself into the gov't. He stood trial and was CLEARED. NOT GUILTY, for clarification. The Univ. of Illinois hired him. The mayor of Chicago sings his praises. He is accepted and respected by his community for his current actions, and forgiven for his past actions. McCain was investigated and oh, look....CLEARED of his charges. Really???? lol How redemptive. BUT wait, McCain was also censored and reprimanded for POOR JUDGMENT- exactly what a POTUS is NOT supposed to have!!!
Fact: McCain abused his power and helped DE-REGULATE the savings and loan sector. He did not pass his "infamous" ethics bill (with a democrat) until AFTER he was CLEARED so that he would give the APPEARANCE that he was "a reformer" and not a part of those "corrupt republicans". He's arrogant enough to think that we will fall for that malarkey.
What is different about McCain and Ayers? Oh, yeah, McCain was CAUGHT, RED-HANDED.... Ayers turned himself in. McCain hid behind his daddy's name. Another free pass for his bad behavior.
Selective justice is not for Americans that want a whole lot better than Bush43 and McCain.
